I am guessing that you May be his First love, the girl of his dreams, and someone, at least he would Imagine spending his life with someday. It's a mature train of thought, for many guys his age are Not into the 'Bun in the oven' deal or setting up house with anyone for quite a few years down the road. He's a bit different, which I find admirable.
By him calling you 'his wife,' it's a symbol that represents that he more or less, even if it's Not on paper, that you both are as One, hooked at the hip, and that You are the Girl who makes him----------The happiest guy on earth. He's enjoying portraying being your 'husband,' and is even proud he can Call you 'His wife'.
And who knows what the future may bring for the both of you? I knew a couple that dated all through high school, and after they had graduated, they got married and had three children. To this day, they are still----Hooked at the hip and Very happy.

It just means that he's happy being with you and sees himself spending the rest of his life with you, it's common for a first time love, I use to call my best friend my wife cause she was always with me, sometimes I wonder how it would've been if I had married her.
