What's Worse: Unrequited Love or A Break-Up?

Simple question. Is unrequited love or a break-up worse in your opinion.

I'm sure a break-up is worse to a lot of people, especially when it's you that gets dumped when you think things were going so well. But for me, I think it's unrequited love. because you never find out what could've been.

For me the worse would be a break up. Because you have to move on it, and you have difficulty moving on from your love. Its like walking around with a broken leg. Or being slapped on the face right in the blue. To me a break up is the worse especially if you never saw it coming. But then again it depends on the person and what they think is worse.

Good point. I've been through it all; unrequited and break-up (both sides) and I still say unrequited love is the hardest.

Yes. In both cases. Both were tough but at the end of the day, they were for the best.

Admittedly, this whole unrequited love situation has happened once and it was with a girl who I thought was perfect. And before you say that I never really got to know her, I did. I knew the good, the bad, and the ugly with her and I still thought she was amazing.

Both still fall under forms of rejection, so one isn't necessarily worse than the other. However, if I had to choose, I'd say the break-up, as there are a few other emotional factors involved.

Unrequited love for me. If it's always one sided, it's the worst. But more so when the feelings are genuine.

I don't know sometimes you realize its unrequited when it happens? But i think that unrequited love is the worst because no matter what it always hurts... cuts extremely deep.

With unrequited love, you know exactly what could have been... NOTHING. There's a reason they didn't date you!

Sometimes the reason they didn't date you or try to get into a serious relationship with you, is because of external factors that werent personal. Some times timing and other uncontrollable things can make someone who might want to date you or is interested in you, chose to not do it. Also some people let fear of getting hurt and rejected (if they have experienced break ups before) stop them from pursuing a relationship if they are not emotionally ready etc. This can be very hard to accept when you are the one who gets rejected because of that, even though you know they like you

true, although that specific scenario makes you think what could have been in a slightly different cirumstance. Its not the same as if the other person doesn't want to date you because they find you unattractive etc, because in that scenario truly nothing could have been, unlike the one i mentioned.
