Unrequited love: That girl/guy you had an intense crush on that you always dreamed about that you either barely knew, were either friends with, or at most managed to go on a couple dates with and then got rejected or friendzoned

Breakup after a short-term relationship: a breakup after a 1-year or less relationship.

Breakup after long-term relationship: a breakup after a 1+ year relationship.

Divorce: we all know.

Short Term is probably #1 because usually when that happens one person feels like they love the other one and then they break their heart. Divorce and Long Term usually it's mutual both people realize it's not working and they're growing apart so they decide to put an end to it. And the Unrequited is obviously last because there was never anything there so you just move on like it's pretty much having a one way crush lol.

What if you barely knew him (or in my case her) and dreamed about him, etc and then one day you confessed and asked out and got turned down?

That's what happened to me earlier in 2014. There's this one girl... shit I still think about her... we barely knew each other and were acquaintances at best and I kept trying to talk to her, but she really wouldn't give me much time of day and then I confessed and got rejected one day...

Boy, it hurts for a long time. It's been 5 months and I'm still crazy about this guy. I think of him dozens of times a day. It was worse before but now I am occupying myself with activities just to keep him off my mind. If you have heard the song "Habits by Tove Lo" I can really relate to the song.

This girl, I started crushing on in January 2014, implicitly got rejected in March 2014 and then explicitly in August 2014... still think about her/have images in my head about her/jack off to her/fantasize about her lol... but at the same time, keeping myself occupied with activities just like you...
