I've done my sleeping around and I've had a couple relationships, and now I'm married. I can honestly say for me, my sleeping around days were the worst. My logic was that I could just have sex and cut ties and move on to the next guy just to have fun. Wrong. Unless I got to know someone and kind of liked them enough, I was asking for trouble with many. That's where I found my stalkers and scumbags. Just having sex also left me feeling empty when the guy had no problem with disrespecting me in other ways because we had nothing else to go on other than the sex. By that I mean, insulting how I looked, criticizing how I lived my life - all things where his opinion really didn't matter, but I disliked hearing someone tell me things where the main reason was to hurt me and nothing less. Maybe they wanted more than sex? LOL

Anyway, in a relationship, that's where there was someone who I could count on, request safe sex (and if they were willing to get tested or use protection it meant they respected not just me, but himself), and be more of a companion who I enjoyed spending time with.

And almost always were the one-night stands NOT the same feelings on both sides. Many times one person feels a bit more than the other, and might makes moves to want to see the other person again or go for more and have a relationship when it's not at all what the other person wants, or they decide they really don't like the other person that much or want to be seen with them anywhere. Feelings get hurt, and vengeful shit can happen even if you think you've covered your bases.

Anyway, sorry for the long response, but I've been there, done that - and for me at least, sleeping around was only good for the experiences I have to pass along twenty years later to anyone who will listen to me that it's a bad idea. But hey, that was just me.

Sleeping around is fun.

I'll use an analogy (that I love to use when discussing this topic).

Casual sex is like a snack.
It hits the spot for a while,
you even find yourself feeling full for a bit.
You eat a few to keep fuel throughout the day.
But eventually, you get hungry again (empty).
You want a meal (relationship).
You realize that in order to be contented/satisfied you have to eat healthy.

Casual sex is fun and convenient. But eventually you want to feel cared for and loved.
Those are feelings you only get while you're romantically involved with someone.

You can eat a bunch of snack sized means throughout the day though and that's better for absorbing nutrients and stabilizing blood sugar which is less stress on your organs also big meals put unnecessary strain on your heart compared to small means. Other than convenience there is no advantage to large means as apposed to snacking throughout the day. :p

Thing is it's up to you. We can all preach the pros and cons but it's up to you and what you are after.
Me personally, I need and want support. I need to give someone love, to look after them, to make them breakfast lunch and dinner. It's something that I enjoy doing. I enjoy having someone to turn to and tell everything that happened that day. Best friends are good yes but I get to build a life with someone. And if it's the right someone, you can see go out and have fun and drink with your mates, etc etc.

That's cute, but if I may. The advantage of being single, sleeping around is that.
You can do whatever you like
You can date whomever you like
And you can sleep with anyone who will ever let you.

@i_am_repulsive and that's fine if that's what you like. Personally I don't like sleeping around, it makes me feel cheap, nasty and insecure. I prefer to have a best friend with benefits if you will. But that's my choice that I've learnt through experience, it's the way I prefer to be. As I said to the asker, each to their own and do what makes you happy.

And also, as I said to the asked, if your relationship is so stuffy that you can't do what you like and be with others, chances are it's not healthy. Now I'm not saying that makes cheating okay, obviously not, but I mean going out and getting drunk with friends or saying "bumped into someone be late home" or whatever should be acceptable if it doesn't interfere with plans overall (just the same as if you had planned to do something you wouldn't stop and chat).
I'm trying to say a good relationship only stops you from sleeping around, it shouldn't stop other aspects of life.

Isn't that the same thing? Having a friend list with benefits of some sort; even best friends? Then again, at least the advantage of being in a relationship is that sex is a constant thing; like a buffet of some sort. I feel somewhat sick writing that to be honest.. but you get my point. Not only that I guess, in a relationships feelings grow, whereas sleeping around is simply objectifying women or men out there; no feelings of attachments whatsoever.

Sleeping around... you get the physical stuff out of the way, but then the person (s) you slept with could really care less if something happens to you.

Well, I've heard that sleeping around makes people feel more and more lonely, and makes them have more trouble finding love.
I slept with some random girls, but not a lot, so I didn't reach the feeling of being lonely though, but I've heard that a lot.

The answers aren't realistic thus far so I stepped in.

People have friends with benefits . That's sleeping around. People hook up and have OnS all the time, with or without drugs, alcohol, or straight cash and a sexual reputation.

Do I do any of that? No, but other people do even though they tell you that "the right guy just hasn't come along yet". Almost all of us want a companion, but there's an honesty vaccuum when it comes to putting your whorish ways to the forefront.

True, but just because they are sleeping around doesn't mean they prefer that than being in a relationship. I've slept around and I was more interested in a relationship, but the girl wasn't gf material and we both wanted sex that night, so we did it.
Some people sleep around because they rather do that than be in a relationship, but others sleep around because they haven't found the right person to begin a relationship with, so at least they get the sex.
