If you send a girl a sweet text, and she replies after a week, should you reply there and then?

I'm worried if I don't it will be hard to start a conversation text wise?

Or out of self respect, should I just leave it?

I partly feel it's rude/extremely disrespectful to wait that long to reply to someone, certainly without any explanation.

The thing is now I feel that I should respond if only to get a flowing convo going. Am I being too nice?

If she responds back with just a haha or something of that sort and doesn't answer 'how are you', what does that mean?

I would reply her to as soon as you see it. If, though, this girl that you like waits that long again, I wouldn't pursue her.

I'll use myself as an example: I don't really notice messages right off the bat and I may not respond for a few hours. Depending on how my week is going, for a few days. But if I really like you, I'll make an effort to check my messages consistently or more often than not.

I wouldn't ever leave a guy hanging for a week. That's just rude.

Yeah, if you ask her something direct, like how's you're day, and she doesn't respond then you just gotta let it go. She's obviously got other things on her mind more important to her than you. She may be going through something big, or just blowing you off, either way it does nobody any good for you to nag.

Originally I broke a few months of silence (I was tired of initiating constantly) with birthday wishes for her. She responded thanks!.

A little later, I sent her something I thought was funny and she might like and asked her how she was. A week later she responds to the teaser, not how she was. I guess she expected me to respond then and there. I eventually responded at the end of the day with something linked to the teaser in a joke and then again asked how she was.

She responded a few hours later with 'haha'.

I've got dozens of girlfriends all over the country of various capacities, ie, just friends, hook ups, possible flames, ranging from old friends to one- time vacation meet ups I may never end up talking to again. Some of it is up to me and my feelings, they obviously have a large say in the matter, and the rest is up to fate.
