Girls, Would you date a guy that HATES texting?

Texting is like absolutely vital for most people today, and most gf's are obsessed with texting their bfs and a great deal of the time of relationships is on a phonescreen. would you date someone that hates phones and especially texting? i might give you a call or a text once in a while but only if its an emergency.

Yes I would. I actually dislike texting and it takes me a while to respond back to people unless it's an emergency. Calling to check in is much better because at least you have the verbal communication. Face time works just as well.

I find that couples who get to comfortable texting end up running the relationship like that. For instance if the first time a guy asks you out is through text then you can expect the breakup to be through text. I remember when breaking up through text messages was frowned upon. Now it seems like a norm.

I would date him, but he should probably tell me that he hates texting, like I don't want to be annoying and text them, I text because of its convenience and because you can pretty much be doing anything while you are texting. Vs. a phone call you can't exactly be doing a lot of things at the same time. If you just told me straight up you don't really like phones in general, that wouldn't really be a bad thing, I feel like so many things get lost in translation over the phone.

Thing is, I don't like texting either. On the other hand, I'm a busy person. I won't have time to see him every week, most likely every other week. And I still want to communicate in some way, whether it's texting/webcam/calling/letters/social media etc.

But yeah, on terms of texting... I'd rather hear his voice than look at words on a screen.

I wouldn't mind if a guy isn't all that big on texting but it can be helpful for important situations or emergencies so I agree with you there. What is the most important for me in a relationship is seeing each other and communicating in person. I have found that after a while texting kinda gets dull and its harder to make conversation and keep it going, however when I see them its a whole different story. You never run out of things to talk about.

You never get a true sense of a person or situation in text or on the phone.

all girls here seem to be ok or even want this trait. but in real life i see girls storming their bfs with texts. and whining big time if he doesn't answer them or takes too much time to... .

I don't know many women specially younger ones are phone-crazy. my friend had this girlfriend who wouldn't let him sleep if they didn't talk 2-3 hours on the phone late at night. id be like "wtf girl let me sleep at last, shuts off the phone..." haha... .

They also used to really rather frown on sex before marriage, and MOGAI people, and women who worked, and contraception, and etc. etc.. I'm pretty glad I don't live in the 1800s. What is your point? I like to be in contact with the guy I'm dating, I don't see the problem there

No but I would miss him. I would prefer to text than talk on the phone because I get anxious talking on the phone, but if he hates phones and won't do that either then I'd just consider him pretty uncommunicative tbh. It's not like I want to text for hours every day (or, well, if I didn't see him very often then maybe, but I'd compromise); but just a 'hey, how's it going?' would be good.

I'm pretty introverted I suppose so textual modes of communication work well for me 'cause I can express myself better like this while I have time to think of wording.. But I am a talk-y person once I meet someone I connect with, I wanna talk about FEELINGS etc. One of the worst things to me is when a guy's really monosyllabic and it's really hard work trying to have a proper conversation with him about anything. Or when you're texting and his spelling and grammar is horrendous (I mean I get that mine's not perfect but I know guys, and it does tend to be guys, whose texting is just unbelievably bad)
