Do men categorise women in this way?

Question

Do men categorise women into groups, like:
- wife material
- girlfriend material
- friend only
- casual hook up/sex only
Or, something like that? ?

Some or maybe even 'many' men do on different levels.

There are women you are interested in and when you get to know them if you didn't get a 'bad' impression from them get relegated to casual hook up/sex only or perhaps friend but less likely if you aren't interested in them.

There are always going to be women who are friend only and typically that is women you have no sexual interest in. Sometimes these women are attractive to the man but there are complications, friends girlfriend etc. It can even happen that you aren't initially attracted to them but through time you might become attracted to them. I believe this is the more superficial men, think younger, who can't even fathom dating a woman who isn't their 'ideal'.

Wife/girlfriend 'material' are pretty much the same except in my opinion for the more sleezy guys who are fine with dating a woman but don't see her as high enough status for him to marry, could be she isn't smart enough for him, isn't attractive enough, doesn't have the same religion, or isn't the right ethnicity, etc. These guys might lead the woman on that the relationship could go further (marriage) but have no intention of ever doing that.

Anyway this is really no different than how women can be with men they date or use as the situation suits them before marrying the 'one'.

I don't do it consciously but obviously I recognize there are girls who might be fun to have sex with but I could not get along with in the long run as well as girls who are quite congenial but for whom I have no sexual attraction.

I think of women as individuals not as a commodity to be graded.

well if we think about it, we all do that It's the only way to be able to choose your right match About casual sex, that will depend on the person of course (some don't consider that)

The differences in men are as varied as the poll. If the girl attracts me enough to want to be with her then she is already marriage material. I don't waste time on anything less. So that being said if I wouldn't marry her I wouldn't date her. No need in wasting either of our time

Maybe I'm just a freak, but I don't categorize people into groups, period. Whether you're male or female, you're still an individual, and you deserve to be treated like one. If there are boundaries, I'll respect them, and expect her to respect mine- but they don't define who those women are as people, so I attach footnotes rather than sorting women out into demeaning, belittling categories. Does that make sense?

I wouldn't date a girl if I didn't on some level believe she was wife material, and I don't believe in casual sex, so it basically comes between just friends and girlfriend material.
(I'm fine with other people having casual sex, but I don't want to.)

Yes, I do sort girls I meet-who are approximately my age- between just friends and girlfriend material.

Girlfriend and wife material are lumped into one category for me. Ideally if things work out she should become my wife after a few years.

There is a friend/coworker/classmate category

Hook up category does not exist.

Other is for people I do not care for.

To an extent. To me it's either wife material or not wife material. I don't really compartmentalize. For me the purpose of dating and/or getting a girlfriend is to find someone to marry.

I would say it is more like a graph. Her attractiveness level is on one side of the graph. While her craziness level is on the other. Her overall value is determined by her placement on that graph.
