My boyfriend plays violent video games, should I be worried?

I've watched some of the games he plays and they are violent. It scared me! It's brutal and gory. 
I don't have anything against playing video games, just with violent games.
I'm just worried that it will make my boyfriend violent and he might flip out on me if our arguments ever get heated. We've only been together for 4 months. He doesn't seem aggressive but any media or form of entertainment has some effect on our behavior.

Violent video games actually reduce violent behavior, unless he's mentally ill, but anything can trigger a mentally ill person, not just a video game.
I've played violent video games since I was 13 and I've never even been in a fight before.
So don't worry, violent video games don't produce violent behavior, there's many studies proving that.

There was a time when certain things in games bothered me. For example at first I didn't like playing the "devil" or "evil" necromancers. But after a while they just become playing pieces. You don't even notice it any more. It's no more violent, immoral or evil than playing chess pieces and "killing" the other chess piece.

Well ever since I started playing gta I have become a bad driver and gotten two tickets in a month. I had a clean record for 8 years (ever since I started driving). So I guess it does have a little affect on your character and actions haha.

Lol I've played violent game's before... guess what MOST game's are violent. That doesn't mean he will pick up an Axe and go after u. Don't be so paranoid. Just don't destroy his system and maybe he won't turn into ur worst nightmare ☺

There's no validity to the belief that playing violent video games makes someone a violent person. There have been extensive studies done on this exact issue.

I've been playing extremely violent video games filled with gore since I could walk. I'm the least violent person you would probably ever meet. Most mentally sane people can differentiate between fantasy and reality. In fact studies have shown the opposite effect. It can be a healthy way to release aggression.

So if you're boyfriend is a sane and balanced individual it doesn't matter if he's playing violent video games or not.

Seriously? I watch game of thrones which is an incredibly violent tv show. Watching a violent tv show like game of thrones won't make me violent, canceling it will though.

That's all a bunch of BS. Violence in video games don't make people any more or less violent. Just like standing in a garage doesn't make me a car. I play the NASCAR games on my PS3 but it doesn't make me a bad driver or a speeder
