He becomes violent when playing video games?

So... my boyfriend is 40... A man baby. But I'm throwing the age out there because this is ridiculous for anyone his or my age. Anyways, if I go to talk to him while he's playing a game and it could be something easy. Or it could be a fighting moment, he grabs me and hurts me. I go see him to give him affection. I'm not talking about him being angry at the game because he's not. It's scary and I never seen anything like that before. Is this guy a wife beater? Why does he become violent? When he plays cyberpunk he does the same thing and again he isn't mad at the game, he's just quietly sitting there. We sit in separate rooms so it's not like I'm up his butt. And today I wasn't even home all day, he still acted that way. Just because he has to pause it for 1 second.

And that is exactly the problem with those violent games. Virtual violence calls for real life violence. It is a vicious circle.

People search in video games a way to escape violence of the daily life and some, actually a great number of the players are unable to differentiate fiction from reality.

It is sad that society accepts that this violence is natural and does not do anything to prohibit the use of those violent games. Those players that are into violent games are just exteriorizing their own violent behavior through the game.

My opinion is that your boyfriend should seek psychologic therapy in order to find out what causes for those outbursts of violence. As for you, this type of relation is a total no go and red flag.

Well I should just leave he needs therapy for a list of things that are wrong for anyone healthy

I would say that your boyfriend needs urgent counseling on anger management and probably on video games addiction.

It can be scary when people can no longer be in control of either one of the issues.

It takes him probably a few minutes to calm down and get back to reality once he stops gaming. Those game addicts are so into their games that fiction melts with reality and when you suddenly "wake" them up, it is like they totally disoriented, just like a sleepwalker.

That's definitely not normal. It happens that you get angry at the game on occasion and swear but those moments shouldn't occur frequently. He's acting very immature for his age, and using you as an outlet for his aggression is wrong. You should not put up with that.

Because he was normal and sweet when I met him. Like all the guys I date. Including the ones my age. Super sweet the first 4 months then boom.
