There is 90% chance you will fail. But as a teenager you need to experiment and learn. There is some risk and there is some reward. Reward may not be from the success of the relationship , at all times. Sometimes rewards come from failure. These rewards could mean that you have gained some experience and learned something. That you have matured and grown as a person. That you are more capable and experienced now. That you know how much risk to take. That you know yu are romantic an ready to have a happy relationship.

Well... the majority of couples in my family were high school sweet hearts but I wouldn't expect it. 8 doubt they said "oh I'm going to marry this person". They just lived in the moment and went with the flow. My one aunt met my uncle when she was a freshman and he was a senior. They dated until she went to college but later got back together and married. But honestly I wouldn't even think about that.

If I had to guess I would say something like 1 in 1000 or less. It does happen but it's rare, most people move apart and grow apart.

oh wait. my intent was not to make you feel bad about yourself. but to highlight the wrongness of rushed decisions. i dont know you personally so compromising your value as individual was not the initial goal. the rebellious nature of teenage, is not a characteristic remotely found in you. most kids in that period go through similar turmoils, and while i haven't worded it in the most mature way possible, the point was to help you understand, that instead of logic, it may have been this flame of rebelioius opposition that pushed you towards certain actions. actions that you might- according to common sense- regret later... .

sure. but we can't help to notice patterns in people's lifes and the development of certain processes. no matter how we crave to be the special snowflake, our genetics and our likeness as a species makes it all more likely to be a part of the norm. to succumb to the "statistical average". certainly you can work on it but you have to think of certain things. you have to see the big pictures. get your thought process outside the relationship narrow frame and see broader. ask your sefl the following questions. "what does he want in life?" "what do i want in life?" "are we in a position to claim we are independent or have our lives already on their path?" "what are mid term prospects?" "is he someone i want to be the father of my children? can i be the mother of his?" "are we emotionally, financially and cordially ready for sucha commitment?" "is our relation based on mutual respect and purpose? is it clinginess that bonds us or we are two high achievers that consciously decide to bond?"
