Hey, everyone! Do you have any creative advice on 1) How to break the touch barrier, and 2) How to compliment him/what to say when I do it? I am a girl, and my crush is a guy, if that makes a difference.

1. How to break touch barrier?
- If he cracks a joke, just gently touch his arm for a second while laughing
- If you two are talking about something and you want to emphasize some point or tell him something interesting, gently put your hand over his (again for a second or so) while you do that. Like, you'd say something like, "you know what happened on that day?" and then touch his hand while you say so.
- Punching him or hitting him playfully

Giving a compliment
- Compliment his features you like without sounding too obvious.
- If you think that you like his taste in music/movies/TV shows etc tell him so
- Compliment his quality, skills at the stuff he's passionate about etc.
Just be normal. Don't sweat too much about it.
Just say "you got great taste in movies" or "wow, you are really good at (something he's good at)". That can also be a a way to continue conversation. Like, you can ask him more questions about it.

1 just use what ever time feels normal and any excuse to touch him. It is not as weird as it seems to touch someone you get used to it pretty fast. 2 compliment him on things that you like about him. Like his bushy brown hair, his charming smile, his bulging bicepts. Just describe what you like about him.

We actually do martial arts together, so I punch him a lot. I was thinking that showing a more delicate side of myself might be more likely to get his attention. Any suggestions along those lines?

Why are you being rude? There is no reason for that whatsoever.
a) I meant, how to do the two at once, and deliver more nuanced compliments that will go a little bit deeper than just "I like your shoes" or something equally as boring.
b) What types of touch are okay? Where, when, and for how long?
c) There are girls out there who do not like guys.

I just thought the last part was funny. Plus, you clarified that you liked a dude after you made it clear by using "him", and unless soecified, 98% of people assume you meant a dude. The rest was serious. If you wanna break the touch barrier, touch him. If you don't make it awkward and make it normal, he'll think it's normal. As they say, act like you been there before. As for compliments, they're just compliments. Pay attention to something he says. Maybe tease him a bit and shit. There's no secret to it. Like, you can't really ask how to give compliments generically and expect nuanced answers that can be tailored to random situations between what the public (answerers) deem as arbitrary strangers (y'all). You just do it. Just don't go overboard, I guess
