Why did I dream my boyfriend was dying/ dead?

I had a dream last night that my boyfriend was dying. I didn't see him for a day and his dad turned up at my house and said that he was dying and I should go see him so I went to the hospital and he was lying there I went up to him and held his hand and tried to speak without crying then later that night he died and I was in tears I didn't want to be alive because I didn't have him it was so hard that he wasn't around anymore I still would text his phone wishing I wouldn't get a reply but knowing I wouldn't and then I did and I called him and it was him who answered I was so happy but he was dead but talking to me so then I used to phone him every night and talk to me and I couldn't see him I could only here his voice and I started to cry because I was missing him so much and I just wanted to see his face then I woke up and had tears running down myself does anyone know what this dream could mean

Death isn't death in dreams, it's an ending.
