My boyfriend thinks it's funny to hit me, what do I do?

me and my boyfriend just started dating on the 16th of July. so far during the times I have spent with him he has hit me hard ( not in the face. he says its play hitting and when I asked him to stop he said no and he thought its funny. This is so not funny to me and he has already left a bruise on my arm

I still did not hit her I went to slap her and pulled back at the last sec. I did not call the cops becuse I still love her and it was a mistake to try to stop her the way I did. my point is no matter what a women does I won't hit her I will try to restrain her or get away from her but hitting a women is not the answer. Huge red flags here. You haven't been dating him that long and already he is 'play' hitting but leaving a bruise. Then, you tell him to stop and he doesn't listen. Where is the respect and caring? mine would do the same, I hoped it would stop and after putting up with it for 2 years it didn't go away and it got worse, more forceful when he was annoyed and he would just use the same excuse of "play hitting". tell him how much it upsets you and that you don't find it fun and he has to stop if you don't want to leave him but I doubt he will change, good luck
