What does it mean when someone apologizes in advance for a drunk text?

Basically me and a guy friend(kind of) were texting recently about a game that was on . He was in the bar watching it I was at home. Anyways he text "I'll apologize now for any text I might send you later". Needless to say he texted me later, flirting!So what does it mean?

Probably means that he was just using the text excuse as an icebreaker. Perhaps he used it to test the waters on how you feel about him and planned to use it as a backup. (Oh I'm sorry for the text. I was drunk don't think anything of it.) Just in case you turned his advances down. Some guys feel it helps with rejection. Maybe he's known to drunk text people and was just apologizing in case he did it to you. *shrugs* Who knows. I would think that he's interested in you. If you feel the same way why not call him on it or just make a move. Possible that he's just afraid?

Thats the thing it's not his first time drunk texting me so I don't get the apology. He has apologised before but generally the morning after when I ask how his head is, by saying sorry if I woke you up or sorry for texting so late. I don't get it. I have called him on it in the past and he has said sorry he'll turn off his phone in future. Afraid of what?

Ive said sorry after a night of drunk testing to test the water...met this one girl 3 weeks ago, we went out dinner and a movie...couple days later I was texting her, feeling her out...morning later I apologized for the drunk texts...Honestly I get nervous around her, I like her, I want her to know that, but in case she doesn't feel the same Ill do it drunk text style so if she doesn't feel the same.
