Why does my boyfriend only give me the tip of his tongue when we are kissing?

I'm in my 30's and so is my boyfriend. When we kiss he only gives me just the tip of his tongue. It makes me feel awkward and I don't really enjoy when he does that. He has never given me full tongue. It's either no tongue at all or just the tip. If he's not going to give me full tongue I'd rather him not give me any. It just feels strange. He is an Aspie but I don't think that has anything to do with it. He is always willing to touch me and show affection. He will even look into my eyes. He claims that he had a girlfriend one time that accidently bit his tongue. And I think it bled a little. I don't know if that's why he won't give me anymore but the tip or not. I tried to talk to him about it. But I don't know how to really tell him I don't enjoy kissing that way. And if it is fear from the previous incident I don't know how to get him to trust that I won't bite his tongue. But it's very awkward and feels weird. He keeps his mouth closed all the way almost. Then he sticks the tip of his tounge just right in the front of my mouth while our lips are touchung. Maybe he's just an awkward or bad kisser?

Just talk to him about it. Don't make it about him, just tell him what you like.

Since I bite my own tongue all the damn time I doubt it was traumatic, though ofc I'm not someone else biting my tongue. Maybe he just prefer kissing with just a bit a tongue on the lips? I like that a lot myself.

I mentioned it to him. And I asked him why he does that. And he claimed it was because a previous girlfriend bit his tongue by accident. But I almost get the feeling that he may not be 100% comfortable with kissing. I guess I'm just going to have to bring it up again. I just was trying to avoid making him feel bad.
