Guys, how can a very shy girl approach a guy?

Ok, so I'll try to make this as short and sweet as possible. I fancy this guy but I'm a really shy girl who rarely is the first one to start up a conversation or call anyone apart from when someone first speaks to me. I can't tell you how much I really hate this about myself. I'm so shy and awkward... some nights I dream about talking to him and then I wake up, wishing it was real. But if I become bold and make a move, everyone will think it's out of character for me and be like "whoa, what happened to this quiet girl?"
I don't know how to approach him. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this and sorry if I rambled on a bit. ☺

The only thing I can say is that you need to feel confident. Work yourself up to it. Let's put u in a different scenario. How would you feel if you saw another girl talking to him making the moves on him and you were there watching it happen in front of you? Do you think that will give you the courage to be brave enough to talk to him? I hope you don't have to go through that but if you are scared of trying you will never succeed. If he rejects you it will hurt but you never developed true feelings other than a crush and you will get over it once you find another crush. Don't let anything hold you back because you only live once and you need to live life like you don't know what can happen tomorrow. Enjoy your life and live without limits. You are the one who can hold yourself from being the person you want to be. So don't be afraid to talk to him because you will feel like you should have later in life to see how it would of made a difference.

Honestly, I know where you're coming from. I was the quietest bookworm in high school, and you're right, the struggle is real. But let me help you here; every little bit of effort counts. Believe it or not, we (guys) aren't that dense most of the time. Something simple like asking for help with homework or a class assignment will make him notice you, and from there it won't be difficult to break the ice on other occasions. Try to learn more about him, and he'll try to learn more about you.

Find out his most favorite hobby in the world (golfing, gaming, etc.) learn about that subject, and approach him and strike up a conversation with genuine interest and enthusiasm about it. He would then do all the talking, and you can just listen to him go on and on about said subject. And since you researched about it, you can add in to the conversation and he will like you even more

It would be best to aproach him while he's alone for comfortablility of both of you. Make a nice gesture like a compliment or some homemade cookies. You dont have to buy him an engagement ring just show a little effort and anyone worth having will gladly reciprocate.

Maybe try to text him and ask him about his pet, what series he watches, if he likes traveling, etc. Maybe that makes you more comfortable approaching him behind the screen. And maybe then he will approach you in stead (and you will have something to talk about).

Pay no attention to fear, I've met fear, he's an asshole who tells you think like "you cant" and "you're not good enough". When you cast fear aside life seems to turn to a flow rather than a struggle

if you dont know what to talk about just talk about something general and if he mentions something in particular talk more on that, or maybe he's doing something at that moment you can ask him about.

Try finding someone in common you both are close to.
When the 2 are talking interrupt with the idea that u want to talk with your friend about a homework subject or something and therefore say hi and open a small conversation with him.
Then you can start small talks and you develop to bigger conversation and so on

Well if your move is to ask him out or to show him your interest then be careful because he may say no and that can ruin you. But just do it your own way. Ask him awkwardly. He won't mind as far as I'm aware
