Well you would think men would be programmed to be attracted to femininity rather than masculinity as women are programmed to be attracted to masculinity, though doesn't always seem to go that way lol since so many guys tend to say they prefer tomboys to girly women.
The first and most immediate and obvious kind of femininity is physical femininity⌠waist-to-hip ratio, breasts, long hair, slight shoulders, curves, soft skin, body shape, and a higher pitched voice. It includes the biological cues that subconsciously tell me, here is a woman that looks healthy and could carry and care for my offspring. These qualities manifest themselves in sexual attractiveness.
There is feminine behavior. It is not so quickly noticed as the physical, but it contributes to the overall picture of womanliness, and is therefore a part of the draw. Iâm talking about body language like bending the wrist or putting a hand on the hip, walking with graceful gait, having an easy rapport with young children, and avoiding typically male behavior like spitting, belching, farting, and overuse of vulgar language.
The most profound femininity isnât physical or behavioral, though. Itâs internal. Itâs about feminine longings. You generally have to get to know a woman to learn about these, but theyâre the final draw. These include the desire to make a house a home, to participate in community and maintain connections, to have (or want) children, to have (or want) a husband, and to care for family.
All of this is femininity. It encompasses beauty and exudes beauty. It is the opposite of me and my nature as a man. I canât help but be drawn to it.
Finally, and this is really just a side note, I donât think âtomboyâ is necessarily the right word to indicate the opposite of a feminine woman. As others have commented, it can be attractive in its own way. A woman can be perfectly feminine and still enjoy things like rock climbing, playing electric guitar, fishing, and riding motocross. Maybe âbutchâ would be a better choice to describe a woman that men would not be drawn to.
@lilaqua I suppose you have a fair point. When I wrote that, I was thinking about AC/DC, Van Halen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, Rush, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, The Sex Pistols, and Led Zeppelin hopping around on stage all sweaty, sometimes destroying their instruments in a fit of surplus rage, and noodling up and down the neck as if they were⌠well, I hope you get where I was coming from. If I think about female electric guitarists, I think of Nancy Wilson, Chrissy Hynde, and Bonnie Raitt, which goes to show you that women can and do pull it off with amazing aptitude while retaining their femininity. And that was kinda my point to begin with.
Common misconception that tomboys can't be feminine.
Femininity an evolutionary trait found in females to balance the masculinity in men. It's why there is a masculine and feminine male in gay couples. It's an instinctual and natural occurrence. That's not saying it's inherently good or bad but it is a fact of selection.
Feminine energy keeps masculine energy in line and vice versa. It's necessary to a functional society at the point.
That's a tough one. I spose the simplest answer is men are hardwired to feel that way. But there's gotta be more to it than that. Why are flowers beautiful? They're round, with curvy petals. They reflect the sunlight with beautiful colors. They smell pretty. They're delicate. And when someone gives you one, you can't help but love them. Contrast it with it's opposites: Gentleness and kindness vs anger and violence. Pretty vs ugly. Smells nice vs smells rotten. I guess I'd say that's why. Lovely things are healthful. Nasty things are deadly.

But I suppose what attracts me to "feminine" as opposed to "masculine" is just the differences. If I want someone who thinks like me and acts like me, I can hang around guys, and we can arm wrestle and pee on stuff, but I like that girls find it obnoxious when we arm wrestle and pee on stuff. There's some part of me that agrees with them that peeing on stuff is maybe not a good thing.
I like views that challenge mine a bit. I might not 100% agree, but maybe 10% of me agrees that it is a little bit obnoxious to clash beer mugs and pee on random things and write out names on the walls. And maybe 10% of me agrees that puppy dogs are so cute and that we should fan our faces to prevent tears from shedding when we see a happy ending at some cinema. Of course at least 90% of me disagrees, but I like the contrasting opinion.
I believe that while a tomboy ends Up in a greyzone in bewtween male and female. The feminine woman shines with what attracts men to woman.
Personally I find a feminine woman more physically Beautiful, but I would always be more attracted to a cute tomboy than a mean but Beautiful feminine woman. So I would say that it's the personality that draws me to a woman.
nurturing, Supportive, beautiful, respectful, focus on appearance (being clean and groomed) and focus on dress, it can also be refreshing when a girl is more feminine as she can be more bubbly in nature, sometimes a sweet girl is just what a guy needs.

I consider myself a feminine guy. First, let me explain what I think femininity is. I think it's how one sees nature as an almost poetic romanticism. Ones ability to love life (aka nature) in an open way. So to answer your question, I think a feminine female gets my attention more than a tom-boy type. it's down to nature. women were supposed to be the more submissive type caring for the kids making food edible whilst men were supposed to be the ones catching food protecting the tribe, kids, women and elderly. all that stuff. it's down to our nature like most of the things we do. some people do prefer tom-boys over feminine ones but that's down to preference.

Huh? I hate the modern feminist 1,2, and 3rd wave feminist. And I know a girl name Laura, she was a 19 [f] tomboy who drank, dance, talk shit, talk about anything with, minor bad manners ( burp, sit legs wide open, cuss, etc), cared what others think of her but more importantly she didn't play games, she didn't keep you on wait with texting and she was up front with being with you or not. Femininity has always been celebrated in art and culture going back centuries. Look at the art from Greece or Roam. Celebrated a feminine female form and ability to bring babies into this word. Femininity is the celebration of beauty and life giving. No one celebrates Tom-boys because they do not reflect thousands of years of history and culture.
Well shit then... After reading these comments it just confirmed that I'm going to be forever alone 😂 since I'm really tomboyish... I wear men's clothing, never wear dresses or use make up... Ever... My eyelashes are naturally pretty long so I guess that's okay... But honestly at this point I don't even care if I ever even have a boyfriend (I never had one) I prefer being alone 😂
After countless bad experiences with so called cis gender girls due to their absence of even a slight bit of masculinity, I met up with a girl who's trans in the hope's that she would have that slight masculine side. We have similar interests, she actually has a sense of humor which is a quality that is non existent in cis girls, she's smart, cool, and fun to be with.
God gave women the natural gift of femininity. It's biologically ingrained that males are atttacted to the feminine qualities of a women as we are wired to desire/love it. Alpha men seek feminine women, and vice versa. This is due to many factors, but the main being procreation.
People of this generation need to realize that these aren't stereotypical gender roles, they are proven to be factual in human nature.
I often prefer a more tom-boy type. My girlfriend is the best fit for me because she will be tom boyish when we're lazing around the flat but when she wants to she can look incredibly feminine and fit more into the "girly girl" category
Hair style and clothing choice. When a tom boy girl still dresses to look soft and a little girly, but is sporty and into fun games and stuff, that is the best.
Because the female body is like a piece of art. Everything else is just the icing on the cake. How tasty that icing is just depends on what the female is like as a person.
Femininity is female nature. Masculinity is male nature. I'm attracted to women - why wouldn't I be more attracted to a woman who is more like a woman than like a man?

I thought this was something obvious. The real mystery is how on earth masculinity is so attractive to a girl when almost everything that is masculine is pretty damn repulsive and ugly.

That is a great question. I have been attracted to what we used to call "girl-girls" since I was little. Maybe that was the ideal when I was a child in the 1970's. Have to really think this through.

Every person is an individual, regardless of their biological gender. Femininity and masculinity are gender roles, which are just a social construct, they are irrelevant.

I don't think it is anymore. Once you've seen the dark side its hard to see it the same. Femininity has been weaponized against men, to use our natural love and affinity for women against us. I see it as poison now. I don't want it in my life.
Feminity is beautiful because however you look at it a woman is a lot more complexed than a man even on a very basic level there is a higher complexity about them
