Why does he always use my name in conversation?

Whenever I see or talk to the guy I like he always uses my name, constantly. We've known each other for over a year now so when I first met him I thought he was just bad at names. But a year later and he still does it but he always says it so nicely and differently from anyone who has said my name. I don't know it might just be me but could it be a sign that he's interested or something?

ALSO: He does usually flirt with me, like he'll always stare at me same with his friends. He has complimented me before and tries to joke around with me a lot.

I wouldn't get annoyed by it. When guys on here ask how to flirt, one of the main things I usually tell them to do is to use the girl's name that they like when talking to her in conversation. People like hearing their names when someone is talking to them, it makes us feel more special for some reason. If he doesn't send you any other flirtatious signals (ex: treating you better, always making eye contact, playfully touching you), then I wouldn't consider that a key indicator of him liking you, but if he shows those others signs, using your name being one of them, then he's probably interested in you :)

I had a girl I did that with a long time ago. To me... it was a thing that just made her stand out. I did it because it was something that was very special to me. She was an important person, so I gave her special treatment and significance by constantly using her name. Everybody also called her by a nickname... I never did. Anyway, I'm saying this because I did like her... but this isn't enough to be a sign by itself. You need to look for other cues. Things like lingering touch, wanting to be around you a lot... flirting. Things beyond just the name.

Is he a native English speaker? I now live in Japan and Japanese pronouns ("you") are very different from English with additional complicated social hierarchical and formality nuances. It is often best to avoid pronouns and just call the person by name. I can't say much about other languages though.
