Let's supposedly say you were given a choice between two types of lovers to spend with for the rest of your life! The first one being highly academically intelligent but very low on emotional intelligence and the second one being highly emotionally intelligent but has very low academic intelligence. Do you value someone who has more knowledge and is "book smart" or someone who's more empathic and can understand feelings? Both of them have their pros and cons so pick wisely! Academically Intelligence: Someone who understands the world around them using logic and reasoning to determine the outcome of life. They'll likely be self-improving themselves constantly by keeping up with the news, reading books, practicing activities and conducting research on life in general.
Emotionally Intelligence: Someone who can understand a person's emotions and feelings, including their own. They are able to relate to other people by going through similar experiences and/or can embrace the suffering/happiness of them. They are also very observant about people's actions and what the outcome of their emotions/feelings will be. Power to academic intelligence or emotional intelligence? You decide!

Would you prefer a lover with high academic intelligence or emotional intelligence?
I prefer a higher EQ. I think I have quite a high EQ myself, I'm good at reading people and my self-awareness is quite high as well. And as such, I sometimes find it hard to communicate with those who are bad at analyzing and communicating their own feelings. If I'm trying to have a deeper or more meaningful conversation with someone, I don't enjoy getting answers like "I don't know", "I don't care", "I've never even really given it much thought". For me, it's hard to feel connected to someone if they can't open up and if they don't have enough self-awareness to do so. I also find that those with a lower EQ tend to not think too much about how their actions and words can affect other people, tend to have double standards, and would rather avoid conflict and blow up later than talk things through calmly when it's still relevant. That's my experience, anyway. It makes me feel like I'm pulling the weight for two in a situation like that, when relationships (or friendships) should be about give and take + understanding one another.
IQ over EQ for me because I love to debate stuff that blows most people's minds ahaha, I need someone who can keep up with me without getting upset or tired of the constant discussions -- I don't have them to argue and that's what more sensitive people usually think. I like to debate and philosophise about things that interest me as a way of processing them and taking thought to a new level, it's how I thrive. I typically don't get very emotionally attached to things or people and I don't need a partner who is like that either, as long as we are sufficiently emotionally attached to each other to make a relationship work & last.
Absolutely intelligence. You can stab me, you can shoot me, and you can kill me, but just don't flippin "BORE" me!!! If you want my attention and affection, leave your whining to yourself and approach with caution and logic.
This is a real conundrum. I really like intelligent women, but one with a high EQ is especially attractive and more likely to be a good partner. I don't want to date a female version of Data or Mr. Spock.
I don't believe in "emotional intelligence" or "street smarts" and I would prefer not to date someone who identifies as having either.
I instantly understand such claims as "I have no real capacity for critical thinking so my cognition defaults to primitive impulses as the thing to base my decisions on".
I think your assumption that the high academically intelligent type can not learn to be a good lover or inability to understand the emotionally charged side of people. But if I must choose I will go with academic because emotional people can drive you crazy with feeling everything bad as well as good. But I would hate to have to be forced to choose.
Hands down EI. I don't want someone that can't read signals or read people. I also want my partner to be introspective. Not a know-it-all snob. Anyone can gain knowledge by reading and studying, but not everyone understands and reacts to social cues. I think EI is a more important intelligence, for relationships at the least.
High emotional intelligence as by acqdemically smart you mean someone knowledgeable. You can always learn, but you can't develop your intelligence that much. It would have been a better comparison if you were talking about an actual type of intelligence, not being book smart.
I love someone who does not carry their emotions on their sleeve. Also, I want someone with compassion, someone who is confident with themselves and comfortable with how they were created. I also hate someone who wants to change me, if I change it is me choice.
I've been with lots of hyper emotional women who swear to high heaven they're experts on emotion and without fail they all end up being a mess.
I'm not studying in a stem field and I'm seeing the women, due to such a strong understanding of logic, have their emotions in check while still being able to be romantic. I will NEVER go back to emotional trainwrecks or self-proclaimed "High EQ" women. Never.
Of course Id rather have both in some sort of balance but for this I believe It would be better with academic intelligence. I need someone who I can relate to and feel that they can truly understand me.
Emotional intelligence, because I lack a lot of that myself. I do appreciate academic knowledge as well, though. Better to have both with a good balance.
I'm someone with high academic intelligence, but my emotional intelligence is low, a person with high emotional intelligence would complement me, so I would be with someone who has high emotional intelligence but low academic intelligence.

I don't want any of those cause someone who is highly academic is stupid
and someone who is highly emotional is called a women
and both bring issues lol if the person is not grounded on GOD they are stupid literally
I get the feel that you're either religious or a flat earther who has seen to many theory videos. The thing is, we have taken pictures from space and the earth is pretty round almost like a ball. Because it is round it must have a center, which is the inner core. Although I haven't read much about this Im guessing that because the earth was a hot glowing ball a long time ago, because it took so long for it to cool down and because there are active volcanoes (I doubt that the lava underneath is just something random) you can understand that it sounds very likely that there is a core, a center with hot magma in it.
Nowadays with most modern Indian women being so practical, logical and boring , I would prefer a girl who has a higher EQ score. Sadly , the few who I know are in a relationship.
Emotional intelligence would mean they'd make a better partner and parent. It's a healthier mind, in my opinion. Know thyself. Know those you love.

For me, I can't decide between the two. I need somebody who is intelligent, but at the same time somebody who is very sympathetic and understands herself and others feelings.
