Framing is everything. If you actually want to get a girl flowers the better question is what kind she likes. If she really doesn’t like flowers because of pollen or whatever she’ll tell you right then and there.

If if you ask a girl if she likes flowers she is more inclined to say yes, no, maybe. Usually meaning she doesn’t want you to feel inclined to spend too much money on delivered roses.

if you ask what her favorite flower is you’ll usually get an answer and the answer usually isn’t roses.

I never expect flowers, but if a guy is sweet enough to ask me casually what kind I like and then randomly show up holdings a bouquet months later I’m touched.

If a guy asks me if I like flowers, I say yes, then an expensive order of roses in a crystal vase is delivered to my office... I’m grateful for the gesture. But it’s a gesture, might be embarrassing and generic.

If someone asks me if I like flowers I always say no for these reasons. It means they are going to spend a lot on flowers or just looking for an out.

Best question is what’s you’re favourite flower. It’s an open question not a closed question and almost everyone likes flowers.

I think roses are lame. They seem to be the go to choice, but I have never once bought them for a woman.
Multi colored wildflowers from wherever you live is at least a little creative.
Tulips always went over well too.

Red roses as a go to do suck. At least know a color she likes if she likes them at all. I know to some here it sounds like idle bitching about a guy making an effort. But the thing is, no effort is made w red roses.

Effort is made by either knowing the flowers she likes or doing the mix you speak of and not in a vase but fresh.

Most of my serious relationships involved the question of my favourite flower and color at the beginning when it was getting serious. This didn’t mean I got flowers the following Monday. It just meant they saw a future.

Some forgot the color or even got the flower wrong. Doesn’t matter because they weren’t red roses.

And, no I’m not big into flowers. That just shows a woman a lot about what she needs to know.

The only thing I always try to avoid is the spending on expensive flowers to the office.

Tulips do go over well with almost everyone. They’re my favourite but color also matters.

Fair question. My point is that it comes down to the “framing” of the question.

This is a very well known concept. How you frame the question determines the answer.

Closed questions that elicit a yes/ no response are not ideal. They won’t give a detailed answer.

If you ask a person what kind of flowers they like or fave flower, that person is just as open to say I do t like flowers.

No assuming. It’s just an open question. Like I could say I really like magonlias which are grown on a tree and not for gifting.

Would you ask a person if they like music? Most people would say yes but that tells you very little.

It’s better to ask what kind of music do you like. If they don’t like music they will tell you. I know this because I’ve had that happen once or twice.

But it's still not wise to assume that somebody likes music or likes flowers you still have to ask that question because when you start assuming now you're not making them feel comfortable. Because now you don't have much in common. Is not a good conversation starter. A lot of people ask me that question first instead of asking me if I do or don't and next thing you know I found myself by myself because they don't like me. Best you just don't do it.

Good point in that she allay may like flowers but not being given flowers.

But if you were to ask me if I like to be given flowers you won’t get a good answer. I know many women who are this way. I don’t want a guy to spend $200 on flower delivery so I try to be clear.

I know how much flowers cost because I used to tell my coordinator at work she had authority for flowers up to $100 when I asked her to send flowers to a client. For small things like flowers when they have a baby it’s about $150.

For funerals it’s way more.

Most women appreciate some kind of gesture but flowers are tricky. I’d much rather a couple’s massage than 2 dozen long stem roses in a crystal vase.
