What makes a hug a good one?

There is a variety of good hugs, the ones for friends and family and the ones for your boyfriend/girlfriend.

The hugs for friends:
-You embrace and give each other a little back rub with the hug.
-Get hugged very quickly with just a pat on the back.
-The one arm reach is perhaps the most common and very good hug too between friends. (In general, I think hugs between friends always keep hands on the upper part of the body).

The hugs for family:
- This is where you stand far away, but lean your torso in so you barely touch them when you hug, depending on the bond.
-Then there is the hugs where you get pulled in tight, usually by parents or siblings...

The romantic hugs:
-I’d say are the hugs which you get pulled in squeeze you so tight. You enjoy the warmth and closeness to his/her body. You literally feel the other person, his/her warmth, breathing, heart beat (sometimes) and his/her arms wrapping your back/lower back.
-The hugs from the back that feels like a sneak attack hug, that shocks you and leave you feelings really loved.

I don't really like tight hugs unless I feel like the person giving them is expressing their need to be close to me vs someone who is doing it to subdue me/cling to me. I can't bear it when they do it in that way, it makes me disgusted and want to push them away.

So the perfect hug in my opinion is someone with a strong handle, someone who is plump (I can't stand a hug when someone is super thin and doesn't put strength behind the embrace) and when the sincerity is expressed through the hug.
I like to feel the warmth, the embrace... kind of like a swaddle. Without the warmth and comfort, the swaddle is just a straight jacket

It's a good hug when I'm comfortable with it. As much as I love to hug my girl friends when I met them, I choose not to hug guys. But sometimes when I meet a guy friend after a long time they offer a hug and it's gonna be really rude when I say no... So I just try to make it short and quick, barely touching them.

Am still looking forward to hug my special one 😍 ain't doing that shit before marriage but I'll surely let him know that I've been waiting for his this, hehe.

I am a bit of a traveller and am used to being away from my best friends and family for a very long time. The best hugs would be those ones where you see each other from across the airport lounge/street and you run to each other and there's just this whole exhilarating, lifting feeling as you collide with each other and I'm smaller than all of my friends, so they love picking me up and hugging me and I love it!
