Why do women brag about their relationship on social media?

To give their relationship an "official status", feel validated by society and show off the amazing relationship that they have. Personally I am not one for social media P. D. A , in fact, I hate seeing it. I have never uploaded my relationships to social media and I don't plan on it, ever. Maybe one day, if I find myself with a guy I know will stick around for a long while. However, I can't say I'd post every picture and status about my s. o. It annoys me so much whenever a friend turns their whole profile about their relationship, as if they're not an individual. I don't see any good reasons other than validation and that sounds extremely needy, superficial and annoying to me.

I find it pretty nauseating personally. They're basically using the guy as a prop to make their friends jealous. The guy is usually too oblivious to understand he is being used in this way or maybe he is dumb enough to consider it a form of flattery. But really its just about her feeling superior to her friends.

Just look at women in the 10,000 pics they post when they get engaged. They all do the same exact thing. Put her hand on his chest so she can show off her ring, and she has this creepy as fuck look on her face like she just trapped him.
