Are people on social media bragging and showing off?

The atmosphere of social media seems very show off and braggy most profiles, You tube channels are comprised of people posting about a job promotion, good grades, travelling, photos of their babies or their partners, PDA or of themselves, their looks, clothing, physic, wealth, possessions, academic accomplishments etc... and there are even posts where they write personal intimate praises publicly while it's meant for a select few of the people in their lives for likes...

Are people on social media bragging and showing off?

No wonder so many social media users are depressed or end up leaving social media, you may just end up comparing your failures to the bragging, show off posts of others if you're on there. I kind of miss when social media wasn't a thing and we were all curious about one each others lives because most of us just lived private lives, nowadays most people put everything out there on social media you almost feel as though you know everything about that person even when you have never even met them in person.

Yes, when I was on there mostly everyone wanted to showcase how great their life is, even if it wasn't lol.

Then some people will look and compare their own lives and feel bad about themselves because they feel they should be having the life that "Jaden and Jessica" have. Although in real life Jaden is cheating on Jessica and Jessica is depressed...

When I had good things going for me, I felt weird putting out on social media. Because I didn't need the validation. I shared with family and people close to me that I knew would love to hear about my achievements as well as be there when things are not as good.

Anyone is allowed to mark achievements or milestones in their life. Social media is the ideal way to do so, so all friends and family can hear the news.
‘Some’ people might brag, but this happens few and far between. No one wants to support or follow a bragger do they. Any of the few people I follow for various reasons do showcase the positives, but are careful to show what goes on in the background, their lows and disappointments. Life has ups and downs. I don’t begrudge anyone sharing them. After all, I can unfollow or not use social media if it bothered me, rather than moan about it.

I mean personally I brag all the time and show off. As long as it doesn't hurt somebody else's feelings that is I'm just really proud of stuff and I like to show it off. I come off as an arrogant dickhead sometimes.

You know how when you watch the news and they cover sports, they show a handful of spectacular plays that happened. They don’t show all three hours because 95% of those 3 hours is mundane and boring. What they show is the highlight reel. Social media is just an individual’s highlight reel. When looking at others’ social media, you need to realize you are seeing a compilation of that person’s best moments. Their whole life isn’t like that. They don’t post the mundane, the embarrassing, the boring, the bad decisions, or when they look bad. All you see is the greatest 5% of their life’s moments. Even then, often times those moments are staged to appear much grander than they actually are.

People are just being people. I'd like to think they have several friends they're posting the stuff for to keep them in the loop. I only have two best friends, both of which don't care about social media so I don't post anything. I've never been a fan of bragging about my life. Personally I think it's a great way to get your house robbed. People hop on facebook groups and literally say hey they're going out of town on such and such date, really?

Social media is a fake cancer. There is nothing good about it in actuality... We're all just addicted to it as if we were the Chinese 1000 years ago with opium or the native Americans with whiskey. It's a complete net negative on society

I have one social media account which is Instagram and I only made it because a celebrity I took a picture with wanted me to send him the picture because he liked it so I made it for that purpose and really haven't been on it since.

I think that’s what women do all the time. Bragging about being the favored sex in politics and society and showing off their bodies online and having unprotected sex knowing she can blame the man and get an abortion because men have no rights to protect them from jail

I would say majority of attractive women and even attractive men uses their wealth and status to show off. I use social media to get my news, watch religious videos or watch sports. Bunch of guy friends I know don't even use IG anymore.
