Do you think it is necessary to brag about these things on social media?

When a person buys a new car or have themselves a new house and they caption those photos with "Another dream come true" or "God is good" or this phrase "One more goal accomplished" thank you God for so many blessings!!!

So when they post those stuff on social media, commetns immediately follows with "Congratulations", "After such a hard work you earn it and deserve it", or "Hey now I have someone who can take me for a ride", God bless the new house (or car)".

I found people who post that a little bit shallow. Im sure they bought that new house or car with hard work (or maybe not?) over the years. But why they do it, what is the pretext of showing off that on social media. What they want to h ear from people? Do they want to feel more important than others who cannot even rent a house or who for some, buying a brand new car is out of their reach? I mean im sure the house or the car they bought it on a leasing, unless you are a celeb or a millionaire you can buy those stuff in cash.

Honestly it’s not that deep. Don’t get me wrong, I have friends who post things just to look good simply because they are insecure and crave outside validation. But I feel like there’s a blatant difference between them and people who are just proud, excited and want to share an accomplishment. Any time that I’ve felt negative about a genuinely proud post, it’s because I wasn’t happy with where I was in life or I had some jealousy. But now that I can be happy for myself, I can be happy for others too. Maybe that’s something to consider.

I mean I dont find that to be necessary. Ok they get it from hard work but why do I need to see oh she has a new car or a new house so?

You don’t personally have to find it necessary, and that’s why you don’t partake in that. But if someone else wants to post their accomplishments then why judge? Especially if it’s milestone things like a new car, new house, new job. To me it’s just excitement and if you care about them you should feel genuinely happy. But no one is twisting your arm to stay friends with a “bragger” on social media, or even see their posts. If it’s so bothersome then delete or mute them and go about your day. It’s simple.

I mean they can share that in privately perhaps to the people who really need to know dont you think?

Well if it’s social media then surely they have friends and family added so why not post it rather than seek people out individually? I mean I know people can have a bunch of random friends but usually as you get older the people active on your social media are friends and family, not strangers. So if they want to post an accomplishment, I genuinely do not see a problem. If it’s annoying or bothersome to you then maybe it’s a sign that you don’t feel content with where your life is or milestones you’ve reached. I’m not saying that in a rude way, but it’s a real thing to consider.

I could be content but I dont need to tell people about my accomplisments on social media. I keep them in private cause inthe long run taht could back fire

But that’s what I mean — just because it’s not something you would do personally, doesn’t mean you have to judge others for it. That’s like saying you don’t ride your bike in the bike lane because you could be hit by a car. That’s perfectly fine and fair for you to opt out, but it doesn’t mean others have to. Even if an accomplishment were to backfire, it doesn’t make the happiness about receiving that milestone any less prideful and exciting in the moment, and not everyone chooses to live in fear of failure. If someone’s new house burns down 5 years after buying it, well it won’t rewind time and make them any less proud when they first got it.

They are excited about it. Would you consider a graduation post or engagement post as shallow? What about a food post? Flexing on those starving kids in africa. It seems to me its more envy on your part but I'm just a stranger basing this off a few paragraphs.

Graduation or engagement are different things in my view.
