It shows the level of community you the man comes from. If the woman feels that the man is too far in terms of different level of society, she may not be able to appreciate him. Then the relationship is just heading to the deadend.

It is absolutely disrespectful. It is the man's responsibility to exemplify the sort of communication and respect that he, himself, expects. Women should speak respectfully to men. And men should do the same to women, leading by example.
