My Girlfriend wants to "live her life" - should I stay in touch?

NormanGreenbaum
Over the weekend, my girlfriend of over a year sat me down and said that she needed space to figure things out. Up until this point, we had had no problems. Neither of us have cheated and I thought we were both happy. Until a few days ago when she dropped the "space" bomb on me. Everyone that I've talked to and everything that I've read says to give her her space.don't contact her. At first this seemed like an impossible task. For the past year, we've spoken daily. We lived together. And now, I can't text her, call her, e-mail her. It's the worst situation I've ever been put in and I don't know what to do to keep my brain from exploding.

I love her more than anything in this world and want nothing more than to be with her.but as of right now, that can't happen. So, what do I do? I'm obviously going to do my best to distance myself but how long do I wait before I contact her. Should I give it a week and just send a little "hello" message? Or should I completely bail all together?

Any advice on this situation, whether good or bad, is incredibly appreciated. Help put my mind at ease.

Thank you.
