its to both signal talking to you and typically trying to keep what is said private (as in dont go telling the world what am telling you). saddly most people have no clue of this obvious meaning even with other context clues added to it such as whispering. most people i guess are too mentally dense to figure out "this person is leaning beside my ear whispering must mean its something private" instead the typical reaction is to lean way away from the person and yell "what did you say?" or "i can't hear what you said" then be totally confused.

Its a way to display that she is my main focus at the moment. I do the same thing in a job interview or when im talking to my boss. Its body language that basically means "im engaged and actively listening to you"
At least I always think of it that way when I lean toward someone while talking g or listening.
