Are love and power opposites?
― Martin Luther King Jr.
Love is the most #SUPERPOWER that I predict can end the Cold War, defeat imperialism, end class warfare, form a United front against the redivision of the world... WITH proper organizing ; tactical application; and skilled campaign managers and a bit of elbow grease
😌🤓☝️😛💜
Seriously though, Historically the times people have on mass scale dedicated their lives for the betterment- rather than the detriment of all far outweighs the latter. Even when politicians lie, the rhetoric has to be about valuing life and caring about each other.. Even in the most corrupt leaders ( this is NOT an endorsement jiw an illustration 😏) speak about unity and brotherhood even if the intentions are bad you can’t unite people without claiming to have their interest and their families well being at heart.
Very small percentage of people are sociopathic and even those we dk if that’s natural or based on a lifetime of degradation. Humans live before they do anything else. Hatred and selfishness are learned coping mechanisms in a world that is corrupt. No one ever campaigned on “I’m going to rob you blind take your family and sell your kids into slavery.. “ The fact there are these outcomes is an entirely different problem. The messaging is always in Honor of love on SOME level. This is essential precisely Bc that is what ultimately guides people. The rest of the stuff that gets replaced money objects manipulation perversion... Is, I think all mutilated forms of search for love and acceptance and or the result and consequence of a lifetime of being unable to attain love and or directly being fed cruelty and violence in its stead.
It’s nice to think we are just innately good and sweet and that is why love prevails. I think it’s rather rooted in practicality (not to knock practicality.. the mundane can be exhausted through bravery heroism and poetry 😇)
LOL we all know for a fact we did not survive out of the ice ages by bullying each other and locking everyone out of our private clubs. That would mean death for all.. we can’t simply want to care we have to NEED it for survival purposes... Humans need love bc love inspires empathy and unity without which we would not survive.
Humans are passionate.. Passion is an expression of the spirit and the will to live. Passion will necessarily find an object. Love is an inherent need for survival, when it is absence passions run dark.
LOVE has been trapped imprisoned coopted objectified into a marketing strategy for everything from chocolate snacks to cards to (slave labor ) diamonds to sanctions to wages war... It has to be sat free and placed Back into the hearts and mind of its original hosts.
I think we have witnessed millennia of the alienation love. To the point it is often scoffed at as something feeble ornamental destructing recessive even. People are largely deprived of their innate tendency to love. And the result.. well we witness on the daily. It’s a #MESS 🥵
Love is a super power chained like a wild for profit. We can see it degraded and struggle periodically but we forget the majestic power when free.
Love is a super power; Ency its loyal opposition. Love is stronger but Envy has more dark money going towards its campaign cycles. #PARADOX
{{ I’m going to throw in a preemptive reminder 😉This is my OPINION... No claims beyond that are made here. 😎}}
That's your opinion, eh? Well, in that case I have to say that it blew me away. Brimming with insight. MHO right there.
"The messaging is always in Honor of love on SOME level." I hadn't thought of it that way, but it is SO true. From cars, soap, pharmaceuticals and beer, to war, theft and enslavement, that's how they get ya.
Thank you, Vivant
lol yeah I throw rust in there just in case there was some 20 page history report rebuttal 🙃
Thank you 💜💜
I didn’t see a like so I was expecting a counter argument and since I had written down my thoughts withoit closely examining I wasn’t sure I was ready for a debate~ so I gave myself some breathing since 😛.. then finally decided to peak 👀 👀
I’m so glad this wasn’t a debate 🥵 bc I would have to put it off as I don’t have time snd I hate looking at answers but not responding it feels so cheap 😅
Typo fixed in caps >
1 this is NOT an endorsement JUST an illustration
2 Humans LOVE before they do anything else. Hatred and selfishness are learned coping mechanisms in a world that is corrupt.
3 No one ever campaigned on “I’m going to rob you blind RAPE your family and sell your kids into slavery.. “
4 Love is an inherent need for survival, when it is ABSENT passions run dark.
5 I think we have witnessed millennia of the alienation love. To the point it is often scoffed at as something feeble, ornamental, DESTRUCTIVE, recessive even.
6 It has to be SET free and placed Back into the hearts and mind of its original hosts.
7 Love is a super power chained like a wild ELEPHANT for profit. We can see it degraded and struggle periodically but we forget the majestic power when free.
8 Love is a super power ; ENVY its loyal opposition.
Trying not to be lazy about typos especially if the typo words are actual words, so there’s no reason for anyone to assume they are tripod.
lol it’s funny how I interpreted it too... I almost didn’t look back. I didn’t kind the fact you didn’t “ line” it bc it’s not an entitlement. It was the fact I saw you had responded and also didn’t like it. I know you are a reasonable person so I wasn’t expecting vitriol. But sone kind of major exchange of oppositional views
I enjoyed the question. It’s been a while since I answered a thoughtful question 🌟
There's no correlation between the two really. You can be powerful and have power without love.
Power only becomes reckless, dangerous and abusive if the person with the power is selfish and lacks compassion and empathy , not love.
Compassion moves people to to good , not love. Just because you don't love someone , that doesn't mean you'll be reckless and abuse with your power.
never heard the quote, that's good one.
I ddon't think they are opposites. The problem is love looks weak but it is powerful in terms of the human heart and vulnerability. That can look weak.
When someone says "power", they think worldly power... strength, weapons, power to control.
God loves but disciplines as well. Willing to let people make a choice "the fall of man" and suffer in the consequences, but also extending an olive branch to express love and heart to save and direct. In effect, mirroring behavior of a parent. A loving parent can enact power but it is intended in love. Power can be enacted without love, and that is abuse.
I think there is relation but not opposite. Maybe there are two types of powers viewable in a yin/yang symbol. It's the "root" that drives the source of power.
I think I will say that love is a power. That power can be both bad or good depending on how it is used. Dr. King gave a speech on government grounds that was peaceful, it had power and it was done out of love for the people.

What a brilliant statement!
And I think the reason why a lot of people can come to this conclusion is because they often see those who are greatly in love or who tend to be very loving people eschewing power. And they often see those in power lacking love.
But Dr King is correct. Love and power should be cooperating with each other
I would not say that but I will say love is power but love is also weakness it all depends on the situation.
