In the case of my wife, she's an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, but her specialty as a professional writer and editor is non-fiction. So she reads and writes about the most diverse range of topics: history, cooking, filmmaking, science, philosophy, religion, ... she even wrote some articles on B- cult horror films and became very familiar with those and the history behind them. She's not an expert in any one area but familiar and researched in so many subjects like a jack of all trades. So that generates endless conversation material and makes it difficult to ever get bored talking to her.

Another is that we're both very outgoing and like to hang out with friends. She's actually I'm introvert but an unusually sociable one like an introverted social butterfly. I'm a hardcore extrovert but that also gives us a lot of interests in common hanging out with mutual friends and also talking about them and our experiences daily hanging out with them. That part has dwindled though with the lockdown but she's still endlessly interesting to talk to with all the reading and writing she does.

She's actually an extreme case and the best conversationalist I ever dated. I rarely got bored though with exes who weren't quite as interesting to talk with where conversations were more repetitive, and in their cases, they had interests that also interested me. For example, I dated a beautician once and I'm hardly interested in cosmetics. But she was a pro and went to a French school to learn her craft and really understand a lot about facial anatomy, and that overlapped with my interests in figure drawing. So that made her very interesting to me with all her knowledge about faces and fashion and things like that, and I liked watching her as a master of her craft.
