Ever choose to be in a relationship with one person even though you really wanted to be with another? If so why?

I haven't but people do this to use someone that's readily available to them and for them. Say option A is inlove with someone else but option B wants you. So you go with option B as he is in love with you because option A rejected you. Option B will treat you better as he is the one that wants you.
Or
You are in love with someone and they're in love with you but external factors prevent you from being together - be it parents, race, religion, status etc which I think is BS. So you go with the option that is more compatible in a sense of what society would think or to please your parents or whatever mofos.
Or
Someone is mentally challenged and loves playing mind games and shoots themselves in the foot when they've taken it too far.

I considered giving up on trying to locate the guy I like for a date this month cause it’s been over a year since we last talked. One thing that drove me was I did not have access to too many other guys cause I was not an active member at any church other than an online one with no interaction in a personal way and I knew I would not be able to date until the pandemic ended so I did not mind wasting my time on one unknown variable.

Being in a relationship that is exciting and lovely in the beginning looks tempting but then after a month or two you see them changing, not being there for you emotionally or just loving you only when you're at your best behavior ; sweet, affectionate, charming, gorgeous, adventurous, ambitious, have something interesting to say, BUT THE MOMENT when you become gloomy, overthink, simply quiet or run out of interesting things to talk about because you're a human too who wants peace or when you get angry at them or show them too much attention, their interest starts to fade away. That's why I'm really scared to even enter in relationships.

That’s also why I’d prefer dating someone I know/a friend. That’s the only way you’ll ever know what you’re getting yourself into.
