Long distance relationship?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for about 4 months in a long distance relationship. He lives in Canada while I live in U. S. We were planning to meet each other but the borders are closed. I was planning to travel to meet him when the borders open. My problem is that, should I ask him to at least pay half of my ticket when that time comes or pay it myself without looking needy? Or just give it a shot and see what he would say.
