+1 yThe species is not biologically monogamous. So "the biggest reason" is that it is not in their nature. "Cheating" is breaking artificial rules that have been put in place by popular culture, but it's not natural law that is being broken.
Homo sapiens evolved over generations based on the fairly simple laws of nature. Those traits that proved "successful" (were passed down generation after generation) include the inclination to be horny, have unprotected sex, and create more children.
The truth is, when humans attempt to be monogamous, they are in fact fighting their natural inclinations in order to create a more secure situation for themselves where they are "guaranteed" a stable future. But surprise, there are no real guarantees in life. That's why around half of marriages end in divorce, and of the remaining half, many of them are unhappily married, and either one or both partners are cheating on each other. If you do the simple math, that means the vast majority of monogamous relationships are defunct. Failures. Of course there is the public face and "social media" illusion where everything looks like it works from the outside (much like the millions of instagram and Facebook posters who make their lives look so amazing, when actually they aren't doing much or feeling fulfilled).
A lot of people will answer "they got bored", or "their partner isn't satisfying" type answers. This is just more of the illusion of monogamy, trying to blame the partner for "not being enough", but that's a bunch of BS. No one person should be expected to fulfill a person's every want and desire. It has nothing to do with some failing of the cheater or their partner. It's the system that's rotten, not the people.11 Reply- +1 y
Your comment has a valid point if we check human history. In the past, many cultures approved the polygamy, the orgies, having a side sexual life, and not only in a heterosexual way. The reason of why the "monogamous life" came is because of the rules the Middle Age societies have imposed due to economical and political issues, making the other things invalid and contradicting because others continue doing it but in a closet type or by making up excuses like "I am rich", "I am the king", "I can give me the luxury and clear my sins by giving money", etc, etc.

Dissatisfaction with their partner.
In the fall of 2019 a girl cheated on her boyfriend and later fiance with me. He found out and broke up, then took her back and now they're married. I was not the first time she cheated on him either.
The guy is the definition of a whipped beta male who is wrapped around her little finger. He has no self respect, is a narcissist, abusive mentally and physically and is just overall weak. Which is what she wants, she is extremely controlling and he will bow to her every whim. But with him being so submissive that leaves other more base level desires unfilled, hence her cheating on him multiple times.
Assuming you or whoever you're talking about isn't a controlling psychopath, if you're cheating it means you're with the wrong person, break it off.00 Reply
+1 yThere are many reasons why a person would cheat. it could be they are not satisfied with their sex life with their partner, lost interest in their partner no more, not attractive to their partner anymore, there is no spark in the relationship, and other things. I've been cheated on with previous relationships due to them lost in interest in me. They ended up being with that person. They should have man up to break up with me.

The single biggest reason is a lack of satisfaction. Whether this is emotional, recreational, physical or a mixture of all three depends on the person and their circumstances.
But, I believe the base is that there is some need or desire that isn't being met.
Cheating is obviously the wrong way to go about it but it doesn't invalidate the fact that a person is missing something that they want or need.115 Reply- +1 y
Re update: wants to get in one last ride under the radar. But this is BS because he will probably just cheat later. Could be marrying out of soceital pressure or he really loves the woman but is just horny and is able to cheat and get away with it. Most men will cheat if they can get away with it because sex.

"Why would he cheat while he is engaged?" Because getting engaged doesn't change his character. Neither does marriage.
+1 yUsually it’s shitty personal values. In some very rare cases it might be “semi” justifiable. That is you are in miserable marriage and your partner treats you like pond scum. You want a divorce but that’s financially and/or relationally (kids) difficult. Still it’s not right. But in some very rare circumstances I somewhat understand.
But what’s the worse is when the cheater gaslights and/or tríes to justify their bullshit. Even if their partner wronged them, two wrongs don’t make a right.34 Reply- +1 y
You are right, cheating usually is an inmature reason to solve emotional issues, even though they could be justified. When a marriage is beginning, the couple makes certain vows about "in life and sickness" and "till death us part" stuff, meaning that no matter what happens, they should be together. However, let's think that through history, there has always been cheating, only that the people who could do it was the one with riches, and all that church stuff was to the peasants because they couldn't have more families (and also there was the droit du seigneur).
Maybe that's why there are more people who doesn't want to get married, or they don't want to have children from the beginning, so if they have a discussion or a big fight, the divorce or the separation will be easier. - +1 y
@Rei02 a few years ago it came to light that my aunt cheated on my uncle for their entire 20+ year marriage. There was some open secret some bullshit was going on recently. However when I found out he willing tolerate this bs for his entire marriage I couldn’t help blaming him. He said “he did it for the kids”. But the truth is he is an underachiever and took a low paying job his entire life. His wife made more money then him. She also asked him to get married. She basically wanted a whipped husband for “posturing”.
Anyway she’s a 100% piece of shit no if ands or buts. But he decided to tolerate this crap because he was afraid of being lonely and worse off he wasn’t financially viable. He says he “did it for the kids”. But what kind of example are you setting there?
Anyway I’m the only unmarried sibling in almost my entire family (cousins and all). But I will NEVER tolerate a bitch who did that to me. Never. I make decent money anyway. I don’t need to marry into it just to be a sperm donor. - +1 y
I am so sorry to hear that, I just hope that the other marriages of your family are not as worse as your uncle and aunt's. And you have a point, because it is not only you, when we see or hear about this kind of bs realtionships with others or we have passed through sad experiences in ours, it makes us see that marriages and love relationships are not worthy and that it is better to be alone and single. Or just to have relationships to have fun and don't invest any feelings or emotions like with the friends with benefits, although it can be inevitable to some to start getting attached to them.
If we see the newer generations, they either don't think in getting married or they see the divorce and separation as the easiest solutions to every couple problem, and I mean everyone. - +1 y
@Rei02 unfortunately there was an obvious power dynamic going on with my uncle there. First was money and second was his self confidence at finding someone else. I’m hardworking and clever at making money. I’m a risk taker. My dad taught me to be independent (he’s extremely independent). It’s part of being “a man” (although this is getting tougher in our modern society). I’ll always find a way to make that work.
But the second is the fear of being lonely and trying to date again as a western man. I totally get that fear. I took me some very deep thinking and resolve to break up with my last ex. There was nothing she intentionally did wrong in her life. But there deeper dynamics going that would make a marriage a disaster for us. But still I dating is such a gigantic pain in the ass for a man my age nowadays I have a good reason for not wanting to go back to it.
+1 ySome people cheat because they are just scumbag people who have no remorse or empathy. A lot of people cheat because they feel inadequate, and one person showing even fake desire towards then is enough to cheat.. people need to feel desired and safe. If you can't offer that people will go elsewhere to find it. Unfortunately most people are to stupid or codependent to leave before cheating.
00 ReplyA guy goes home and find his family a mess. The wide only sticks around because of the children. No more love or passion between them... Yeah that's how the story goes.
So he headed out for a drink. To forget about the mess he has to live with. Found a young girl wishing for her life to be different.
"I can't fix my life but I guess I can help you change yours" - thought the guy. So he did. Sparks flied, passion ignited...00 Reply
+1 yWith men it seems generally to be that they can and various women are willing to let them screw them.
With women a general theme is monkey branching, they are looking for someone better so when some other guy shows up and flatters their narcissistic ego with and agrees with all her opinions. " your beautiful", " he doesn't deserve you" " if you were my woman I'd treat you so much better".00 Reply

+1 yIt is squarely an attack on your dignity by invalidating you as a provider (of love).
Why? The 'who' is scum. Why are scum scummy? Whole lot of reasons (mostly because they lie and cheat as a regular occurrence and expect that to be sustainable/go judgement or punishment free, but also for justice to exist).
You could call it 'they cheat out of greed' - to hurt you into giving them more or to punish you for not giving them more (of whatever they are after)00 Reply- 1K opinions shared on Relationships topic.

I'd say the biggest reason is because her interest in her boyfriend is dwindling, she's not 100% satisfied physically and/or emotionally, and she probably felt more attracted to me.
Obviously, I don't know the true reasons, but the above seem to be the major reasons.11 ReplyI can say that 90% of the time if someone cheats, it’s usually due to some sort of dissatisfaction in the relationship. Usually their needs aren’t met.

I had a chat once with a guy who was telling me that cheating actually made his sex life at home much better. It wasn’t that his partner wasn’t putting out... he said that he slept with so many easy girls, that sex with his partner was refreshing to him, & that she almost felt like an “other woman” in his life.
He cheated simply because he got away with it... the extra attention gave him fresh confidence to take home and keep his girlfriend happy.
It’s not always the same situation for everyone.
