What type of boyfriend spits in your face during an argument and then laughs?

Two weeks ago my now ex boyfriend spat in my face in the middle of an argument. After several seconds of initial shock and trying to process what just happened (then him laughing), I was furious but he left by then.

I decided to get tested just in case and it turned out negative. Is this even common to do to a partner, spit during an argument? He kept excusing that it's not like he hit me and that I'm overreacting. Seriously who spits on their partner?
