Why would a guy date you but not have you on social media?

my friend has been dating a guy for over a year. He has exes on his Facebook and a lot of women friends but never adds her. I think it sounds fishy.

Dating for over a year and he still won’t add her on FB? Of course that’s fishy, you don’t need us to tell you that and I’m sure you’ve tried convincing her of this as well. But what’s to be done? She’s clearly too smitten with him to leave and he knows that, otherwise he would clean up his act. Maybe it’s an age thing, like if you are both in your 50s she could be experiencing that fear of being alone that so many women in your age range experience. I know it sucks watching your friends deal with toxic men. It’s also annoying when they come crying to you, and waste your time asking for advice that 9/10 they never take. So I would just be passive about it going forward. She’s clearly accepting of his behavior and he knows that, so there’s no incentive to stop and there’s no point in you trying to get her to see that light. All you can do is be there to support her when it all falls apart, which we already know will happen eventually.
