I had experienced lovesickness after our formal engagement. We both were childhood friends, living in the same street and studying in the same school and university up to graduation. We both were teasing each other, making fun of each other in presence of other friends and helping in school activities from childhood, but god knows why we had never thought of marriage (or sex as close friends, as traditionally sex is strictly not allowed in our community before marriage and outside of marriage). Once in a social function, when I was in the final year of graduation, I was making fun of him. An elder leader of our community called us and asked directly if we are thinking of marrying each other. We both were speechless and clue less, but he said – he understood our inner feelings for each other, and called our parents to finalize the matter of social customs and declare it in that social function. Our date of formal engagement was declared within few minutes, and we both were feeling tense. As we meet at my parental home after this incidence and spent few minutes together in privet, I was totally hypnotized by him and perhaps it seeded me lovesickness that grow up soon.

Love is inescapable, intertwined in history, novels and movies; love is ever-present in our daily lives. Hormone fluctuations are associated with love and heartbreak - particularly the stress hormone cortisol can prompt physical symptoms that affect long-term health. Lovesickness can also make you sick indirectly. A lack of sleep, good nutrition, or adequate hydration can absolutely worsen your health. Some girls thought lovesickness as a medical condition caused by sexual desire and the sight of beauty. Heartache holds the potential to interfere with your life to the point that can impact your mental and physical wellness. In fact, being lovesick feel exactly like an illness.

Romantic love is downright addictive. Lovesickness include: Constant intrusive thoughts about the love interest. An obsession with finding signs of reciprocation and a sense of euphoria if they appear. Experiencing trembling, flushing, weakness, heart palpitations, or other physical symptoms in the presence of the love interest. Restlessness and difficulty sleeping at night. Fear of rejection and even thoughts of suicide or harming oneself also if occupy the brain.

Lovesickness can feel like a rollercoaster ride. While lovesickness may not heal overnight, cognitive and behavioral techniques to change one’s thinking put someone on the road to recovery. The cure for Lovesickness for me was marriage arranged soon after our formal engagement. But in a way, I am still lovesick; I have never slept alone after our marriage – except few days after birth of our child. I need him every day with me.

yes, love sickness is a real thing. It is a hard thing to deal with and don't listen to people who say it is not a big deal.
It will however get better with time. How much time depends on the individual.

It’s in more of a sexual manor, but we’ve bought each other a gift at different times, helped me with something one day when I asked. Sometimes stays for a while and chats. Always a kiss before he goes. But I assume he’s just being nice to keep the sex

For me a guy loves you if he is able to sacrifice yourself for you. So if you ask him "Could you do something for me, please?" and he does it, even if it's a bit of a problem for him. He will endure it, if he loves you.
