Example: “Honey,” “Love,” “Babe”
This question came to mind because Valentine’s day is in about a month❤️😁
I'm not very picky. Experience has taught me, however, that if you get annoyed by being called nothing but "babe", and respond with "Yes, Paul?", most girls will NOT think you're referring to Mr. Bunyan. And I do have a cute related story.
As I've mentioned here from time to time, I do not understand women. Most men aren't very good at it, but I leave those amateurs in the dust. Once, when a newish girlfriend and I first went to visit one of her friends, I provoked a nasty response which I completely missed. She wanted to ask my girl "what are you doing with a guy who's so fat?", and decided to send the message by putting on an album of whalesong. I, oblivious to the subtext, figured out what the album was and started turning the conversation to whales, which are very interesting animals. The responses I got from both of them were clipped and cold, and eventually even I realized they were staring daggers at each other. I paused, uncertain of what to say next, and as I opened my mouth, a particularly loud and piercing cry came from the speaker, and I closed my mouth. The friend smirked at me, and my girl grabbed my hand, turned to me, and said "Come on, [eerily accurate imitation of the sound we'd just heard] we're leaving". I was confused enough to follow her lead without question, and she explained what had happened on the drive home.
Now, I've always held to the importance of interpersonal relationships, and I've always tried to not come between my girlfriends and their friends- I've even encouraged some to go out and make MORE friends- so I was feeling bad about having been the cause of an argument, and I asked whether my size was going to be a problem. In response, she leaned over, snuggled into my arm, and starting making romantic whale sounds. Being simultaneously reassured and extremely confused is a better feeling than you'd think. Afterwards, she'd sometimes use a whale cry as a pet name.
I'm not typical in any way. I hate being called "babe" or "love".
I really like "bae" (probably because I'll actually be able to use it for my beloved since I'm still waiting for her), "sweetie", "sweetheart", "cutie", "beautiful/gorgeous", "honey", "angel" or anything of the like probably 'cause I read romance novels and watch a lot of rom-coms and my favourites are the ones where the guy is kind of the more "innocent" or "cute" one in love with the former party girl or something thereof.
But any woman that uses one of my trigger phrases should be prepared. Since they're the few phrases/nicknames that would make me pretty much want to INSTANTLY fuck her.
Anything even remotely related to Wolves or a Boy/Good Boy. One of my biggest fears as I've aged is not being seen as that sweet kid and a boy anymore so any girl who goes there is gonna pretty much instantly verbally fellate me and put me in the mood to pound her brains out. Some examples across the three main languages I speak:
English: Boy, good boy, sweet boy, cute boy, Wolf, pup
German: Junge, Suße, Suße Junge, Welpe
French: Garcon, Belle Garcon, Doux Garcon, Mon Loup.
I'm very flexible. I prefer it to come from the person and not be too influenced by me.
I don't have a list of ones I hate, like some people do here. Doesn't really matter much to me. Well, bae, I don't like that one much. I guess I prefer more classic ones.
I do think it shows peoples' personalities a bit though, which ones they choose to use. I don't associate any particular people with certain words, like that one's already been taken and I don't want to hear it again.
Sweetheart, honey, love, sweetie or even darling etc. I don’t like baby and all that *yuck*
I love those names too, I’m also not too fond of “baby” “bae” or “boo” 😬

I don't like these names... maybe in private.
Okay, this is embarrassing and if ever asked in public I will hotly deny I ever admitted it.
Ya see, I have a fair amount of body hair. Not quite a bear, but chest, legs, a**, etc. My girlfriend likes it and thinks it is sexy and when she is feeling kind of cutesy she will call me "her furry little bear."
Honestly, I love it. It can be when we are in bed and I am naked and we are just cuddling and she is just hugging and kissing me and fondling my, er... manhood. It can be that we are in the middle of the day and we are fully dressed and she needs me to take out the trash or get the kids ready for dinner. It can be that I get home from work and I walk in and she will give me a "hello" kiss and ask, "How is my furry little bear?".
Whatever the situation, if she calls me "her furry little bear," or just "furry little bear," I love it. Inside, I melt.
Dumb, I admit, and I say now that if ever asked to testify under oath about it I will perjure myself rather than confess in public what I have just admitted here anonymously. She can call me "sweetheart," or "honey" or a bunch of other terms, but "furry little bear" is our code and it means the universe to me.
As I say, dumb - but there it is.
Well, my wife's favorite to call me is Brat and I tend to live up to it.
I also like baby girl and sweetie.
In theory, I’d like pretty much anything besides “baby” or “bae” because I hate those two. “My love” or “darling” would make me melt though!!!
Anything you say darling.
@BillyBalls Aha. I meant from a boyfriend not some random adult on the internet.
😂😂
Yes dear!!!
Lol!!!
Old souls are finding their way back to Gen Z 👍
I'm okay with babe or baby, never been called any of the others. I think I'd be ok with something like "love" depending on the girl.
I love when a girl calls me terms of endearment and it's to the point I cry cause I am a sensitive guy and little things mean a lot to me and I like “Honey,” “Love,” “Babe”
I tend to respond quite well go Oi.
lol.
actually just my name
although at Christmas I think I was more of the servant lol
I prefer my name, but most are okay. I just don't like being called babe, baby, or anything like that. It is not endearing to me.
"amor" I'd get called that, a lot... which means "love"
It depends on the context. During sex, I enjoy being called degrading nicknames (ex. slut). In day-to-day life, endearing terms, such as pet, baby boy, dear, etc. are nice.
i like to be called doll, darling, love, sweetie and almost anything else and i like to call them whatever they wanna be called

As long as it isn't something like "stupid oaf", I'm happy.

Honey, Babe, Baby, or Dude
I haven't been called any of these before. But I think I would like honey or hun.
I personally like being called love or mate but it's fine if anyone else calls me something different
