I've had best friends that were women, spent more time with them then I ever did my girlfriend and yet I never made a move to date. I wish I had, so to your question I would, it beats the hell out of wondering what could of been.

Personal experience, a best friend makes a great girlfriend as you often have a lot in common. You can be with someone else that your highly romantically compatible with but have less in common and it can not be the best.

Simple, all my friends don't exist because they are imaginary, so even if I did date one of them, I'd still be considered single to everyone else not stuck in a delusion.
