My guy best friend, let’s call him Carter. Carter and I got close through hooking up. Our two friend groups then merged together shortly after that and now we’re in the same friend group and see each other everyday.
We became friends with benefits (friends with benefits) although only bc he doesn’t like commitment and I settled for friends with benefits even though I’m the relationship type. This has now been going on for 10 months yet we basically have a relationship without the title. Neither of us have gotten with anyone else besides each other in these past 10 months. Carter was my first everything as well, hence why I’m so attached to him.
About 6 months in, Carter and I decided to be exclusive friends with benefits where we only did stuff with each other. He didn’t like that and so it didn’t last long and that’s when all the arguments started happening. We now argue almost every day for the past 4 months due to my insecurities.
I have also told Carter that I love him, but he doesn’t feel the same way. He has endless love for me as a friend, and it’s very obvious but not in a romantic way. I can’t stand the thought of Carter with any other girl and I get very jealous.
After more arguments happen, Carter becomes distant with me on our friends with benefits side of things. He started giving me little to no affection unless we’re on our own. This was my breaking point. When we used to go to nightclubs he would dance with me and now he doesn’t dance with me at all because he wants to look single.
He then went clubbing with just the boys one night and I told him if he gets with any other girls, I’m ending friends with benefits so I told him to end it immediately if he planned on doing that, and so he ended it.
He never got with any girls that night however we got into a massive argument and now we don’t know what to do. I am crying every night because I don’t want him to replace me, and he says that’s not happening but it’s exactly what it looks like.
