I think I’m in a situationship with my guy best friend?

I met my best friend about 2 years ago and he's been always supportive, caring and kind towards me. After my ex cheated on me (approximately feb 2019) he told me he’d fight anyone for me and has always been there during my hard times giving me attention and putting effort for me. We both started to grow feelings towards each other that somehow progressed into a situationship.

We’ve been flirting for 7 months and eventually we ended up confessing to each other but he admitted that he can’t do long distance relationships, neither can i to be honest. So we decided to stop flirting and stay best friends but we end up flirting again somehow. He says he can’t control his emotions around me and he always double texts me if i ignore his message to create a bit of a distance. He calls me his wife and we keep acting like a couple even though we shouldn’t but we both like it and it feels nice but there's no label and that’s concerning.

He tells me to tell other guys that hit on me that im taken and I’ve also lost interest in anyone but him. Thing is, i probably should stop giving him access to me but i don’t want to lose him since he holds such meaning to me. He’s serious about me too but he wants me close so do i but im confused by his actions sometimes.
