It SURE WOULD be nice!! Especially if the farts were coming from my ex's ass!! HOOOOLLLLYYYYY FUCK, those were nasty farts!!! An entire herd of skunks would start waving a white flag than to even TRY to compete with those!! Sometimes, she knew what was coming and would run out onto the front porch for a while and I, not knowing ANYTHING about WHY she suddenly left, would go out after her to see if she was okay and there'd be dead animals and birds all over the place!! More dropping out of the trees or right out of the sky as they flew by!! And I'd see this chaos and destruction and go, "Honey, why are the trees melting? Was Salvador Dali just here?" After the sirens stopped and the haz-mat team left, we'd go back inside. All of that just because she wanted to eat some chick peas!!
When I was a teen and would hang out on the neighbor's porch for a few hours after dinner each night, we devised a method to let the others know a fart was coming. A very short upward-pitched whistle was all you had to do when you felt one coming and everyone knew to run for the hills and call Civil Defense.

It's generally best to simply say "excuse me a minute", then get up and leave the room, if you can feel it coming and suspect it's going to be nasty. You generally don't need to get into why unless asked.

The right answer is to just fart without moving. People in general fart a lot, especially women. Getting comfortable farting around each other is just part of a relationship.
