Are some women terrible partners who bring crippling insecurities into the relationship? Yes. But there are things you can do to be helpful in a situation instead of criticizing your partner for 'always being that way.'

Do some men dismiss, invalidate, and stonewall their partner instead of listening, supporting, or taking steps to arrange a therapist so she can work on their issues outside of the relationship?

Would it be helpful to tell this woman that worries come and go, but you will face them together. At the end of the day, people just need reassurance.

Sure it's annoying when someone needs more reassurance than you, but we have to keep in mind we all have faults and flaws. Some of us have anxiety, are quick to anger, suffer from depressive episodes or even suffer with regular sleep and eating patterns. Some of us have a nasty habit of withdrawing from the world, inevitably dooming our partners to be alone as well.

I agree with you in principal, especially about some women bringing in crippling insecurities... and honestly I guess the same is true for men. Which is why the first time I sense deep rooted insecurities in a person I avoid them. Since I am heterosexual that means when comes to dating I avoid women with deep rooted insecurities. There is a thin line when dealing with insecure between being understanding and compassion, and there by enabling the behave and over compensating for it.

In a balanced relationship their is equal respect for each other, because honestly someone has to be the rock and someone has to be the water. Sure over time water always defeats the rock... but the rock survives one day at a time while the water flows out an beyond memory.
