Why do we love? and then why do we stop loving?

People don’t just stop loving someone all of a sudden. It may be a realization, or a combination of a lot of factors that may have caused them to distance themselves from their SO emotionally. They slowly get emotionally distant and talking to your SO becomes an obligation rather than happiness.

Human beings are built to express and feel emotions. Even love can fade. I admire couples who stay together, full of love even after years of marriage and being together. Many people don’t realize that romantic love is not unconditional. It is indeed conditional because if someone doesn’t fit your requirements, do you continue to go on dates with them? No, you nip it in the bud, don’t you? You can only fall in love with someone you’re:
- physically attracted to, and emotionally connected with.

People change.. sometimes, the person you fell in love with years ago may not be the person they are now. The “now” you and the “now” them may not be as compatible as the “then” you and “then” them. Besides, who said shit doesn’t happen in life?

We love because we are humans, therefore, we are built to feel emotions. We stop loving, because
events occur, which thereby cause the love to fade.

I always think it's funny when people use the term "stop loving". Because it's foreign to me. How do you do that? I can't turn my feelings off like a switch. When someone is in my heart they never leave. The closest thing I can equate to "stop loving" is, Someone who hurts me deep enough I have to cut out of my life to protect myself. It doesn't mean I stopped loving them.

I've always wondered why too
