Opposites tend to attract to fill voids within ourselves. People who are similar tend to be more stable over time. That is unless they are similar in their instability. Respectful self-confident people don't feel threatened by differences in others.

Actually, opposites rarely attract and if they do there's often problems with compatibility. It's just what movies try to show us because it's more dramatic but people usually go for comfort and familiarity.
