Guys, if were friends why tell me about his other female friends hitting on him?

So me and this guy are friends.

But recently he was talking to me about his female friend who was visiting him, and spoke about how she's a bit annoying, difficult etc and it seemed like it was mainly negative. But she asked over text to him to pretend to be her boyfriend for an event coming up. He said no and showed me him replying that.

Why would he tell me all of that about her? And show confirmation to me that he said no?
