Do you categorize people?

I divide people into three categories - tomatoes, apples, and grapes.
Tomatoes, which are red outside and inside, are people who have my full trust and esteem.
Apples are red outside but white inside, and this means I'm cordial and friendly to them on a superficial level, as they are not completely trustworthy.
Grapes, on the other hand, are hopeless.

The people I surround myself with are usually tomatoes.. I don’t like being around people I don’t trust/feel uncomfortable with.

Going against my instinct has only brought me ruin. I do trust my instinct, but I *don’t* go by them 100%. I will give the person the benefit of doubt and then judge them as I get to know them deeper.

i usually steer clear of ‘grapes’ because none of my family members or those I’m close with are that way.. and as for apples? I’d say a huge chunk of my extended family. Many are conceited and superficial, but i plaster a fake smile and be cordial with them. My parents have taught me to treat everyone with respect regardless of whether they’re “good” or “bad”

No. Not so definitively. I treat everyone the same until I receive the first reaction. They categorize themselves after that. Some people you can say anything to, others have layers. I can work with them. Also factor in people having a bad day or something, give them a chance to change my mind if needed.

Then their are the toxic people who aren’t worth the effort, at all.

Why is it that grapes are the hopeless fruit?

Because they are not and can never be red, plus in my region many grapes are not good for wine and are actually a parasitic plant that ruins gardens and coltivations.
We have a saying/insult that says - "You are like a grape - completely useless or good only to be made into cheap wine (ie. beaten).
