Why do people feel they have to settle down before 30?

This is the thing I don't understand the most. I had a discussion about this with a friend who's 36, and she made a joke that "it's too late to settle down" for her.
I got a bit taken aback by this, and stated that more likely she does not want to, more than not being able to, and that you never know when the right person can come along.
She said that I can say what I want, but she doesn't give weight to my words since I married someone under 30 and not someone her age. Even if my wife is older than me of four years, my friend thinks I'm an hypocrite because she's still under 30. She implied I considered her "good enough" only as a friend or something else because of her age, which upset me.
What are your thoughts?

you don't really have to settle down before 30 however it's best to be a couple for 5+ years before starting a family and/or getting married. so you have a better idea of whom your going to be with long term. also gives you time to do any couples activities you want to try together. before settling down into a more long term commitment.

but studies have shown that the average females best chance to naturally reproduce. is between 18-30 for her first child and under 40 for every child after. provided she is generally healthy enough to go through with the whole process. she can still have children after that but health risks for herself and/or her child increase with age. but she may also require medical help to get pregnant and/or require a C-section. many females will often pair bond with males 3 to 10 years older then they are. because older males are more likely to have the income/wealth required to support her and their offspring.

After 35 a woman's chances of producing healthy kids sharply declines. If someone wants 3 kids, considering they would date for at least a year, then live together for at least a year, then get her pregnant, if they started dating when she was 30, she would be 33 when they had their first kid, 35 for their second kid, and 37 for the third.

The chances of learning disabilities increases if they have kids past 35 and that is assuming she was healthy and has no history of drug use or heavy alcohol use either.

Similar happens to men, but their cut off age is 55 and the decline for healthy offspring after that gradually declines instead of sharply declining.

Biology doesn't care about people's opinions or wishful thinking.
You friend was correct. Most good men that want to create and raise a family will not be interested in her at this point.

Still, I find it wrong for her to blame me or call me hypocrite.

Sometimes you dream of becoming a gymnast doing triple backflips and never tried when younger. You have a lingering dream of doing triple backflips when you're 42 years old with arthritic flares from broken bones and missing parts from injuries but sometimes it's worth putting those big dreams aside.

Sometimes you become totally okay with not achieving certain things. You can admire the people who do and just focus on reaching for the things within your grasp and interest.
