It’s a waste of time and yep, a bit stupid and naive.

I’ve been told by a guy he loved me while he just knew me from Social Media.

I was flattered but that’s all.

Nothing can come out of it, you’ve idealized her personality and her appearance, which most likely is not a the best representation of hers, because she only shows her best side on social media, you can’t see her bad side, you can’t feel her smell, you can’t see when she’s angry, you can’t see when she’s acting silly. You only fell in love with that idealized representation that she chooses to show the audience.

She’s not that girl. Our image on social media doesn’t always represent what we truly are like.

If you keep being depended on social media and falling in love with girls over internet, they’ll make good money out of you someday, while f*cking someone else and being totally different person with someone they know in real life. And there you’ll be sitting in front of you PC jerking off and getting fat.

As much as I would like to say it's silly, I do understand what you meant. You don't get to control feelings like this. It's like a crush. However, that being said, I would prefer you go out and meet people, and know them, which is more productive of your time.

It's called limerence. Limerence is a state of infatuation or obsession with another person that involves an all-consuming passion and intrusive thoughts with someone you have met or haven't met in real life.

What you are doing is taking that picture and making up a story in your head of who she is and what she is all about. You picture yourself with her doing things, living together, etc.

When and if you finally meet her you will be disappointed because she won't' be the person you made up in your head. Stop it. Humans are not build a bears. Go meet someone IRL.

yes and no, mostly yes. I think it's somewhat normal how we work out of our creative minds... a spark leading to a fire to a passion.

but yes, it's stupid because it is based upon a false impression of someone... not whom they really are. Thus, it's a fantasy.. make believe... and generally a waste of energy.

No, but you can never fall in love with them. Maybe the idea of them, but you will never know what they're like as a real person. You're just seeing the best version of them online. I get it, but it's a crush. Try and form some real-life relationships.

I would not say stupid but just silly. But as long as you do not stalk anyone and just look at what is out there in the public, then just have fun with your crush if you like. Though can consider to get to know someone for real with the chance of having feelings reciprocated, a bit more fun? :)
