There is no such thing as "traditional feminism"; the term is an oxymoron because feminism is anti-traditional. I think what you are referring to is supporting the original goals of feminism, which were to achieve equal rights and opportunities for both sexes. Today the movement has obviously deviated wildly from that ideology and has completely gone off the rails.

I myself support the original goals of the movement, as the vast majority of people in places like the US do. And that's why I can never call myself a feminist, because feminism now has absolutely noting to do with equality or fairness. Modern feminism is pure gynocentrism, and it has become extremely toxic and divisive in its pursuit of women's interests and political and social power for women.

Anyone who identifies as a feminist today is by definition a shitty person.

The way you phrased your question made it seem like you wanted to hear what people think about women who label themselves as traditional feminists, as in not the third-wave types we see around nowadays and presumably worse for the image of the feminist movement itself to the eyes of the public, specially males. The thing is that they're not exactly different in practice, specially from the male perspective, and my own personal experience with them has always been bad, with no exceptions. The way you're acting in the comments here kinda proves this point.

Now men confuse feminism with women turning into man-haters. It never was that. It was about women being viewed with respect, as not sexual objects and the like.

Men love to try and downplay women. Make them inferior. As so easily examplified in the responses by posters here that I have made examples of. And I did that on purpose because that is exactly what such men were trying to do. Is that not women-hating?

Men don't confuse anything. They react to what they see. The man-hating part goes beyond mean tweets or bad behavior, as seen through media groups and politicians that didn't get to the position where they're now without support. If it's acceptable because of "historical debt", then good luck explaining it to them and expecting compliance.

Now if you want to go down the path of disregarding modern feminism because it gives a bad name to what you identify as, this doesn't change anything. The third wave just splattered it all over because of the internet, but the basis for it was already there, just not as widespread. Your argument is no different from the "but not all men..." thing you people despise do much.

Notice that I never said in my comments that I'm against what the movement allegedly is, at least according to what you say that it is. My problem, and I said in my comments, is that I noticed a pattern of bad behavior within its supporters, which leads to bad media and bad politics, therefore, bad reputation to the male population, leading to more divide and less support from them. Despite what you say, we do know the difference between men, bad men and criminals, and the feminist movement doesn't, due to ignorance or convenience to the narrative. They don't know how to differentiate actual aggression and criticism to define what's women-hating, so there's that as well. This impacts social interactions to the point that it's not worth it. I don't know if you asked this just as a bait or if you want to know what men think of this kind of women as a friend, partner or whatever, but my experience advises me to avoid them.

Well, if you openly identify with feminism today you will be judged negatively for it, and there are countless valid reasons for that. I would suggest just saying you support equal rights and gender equality. Most people, both men and women, support those ideals, but supporting the feminist movement today is supporting all the negativity and harm it is doing.

Feminism today is not about equality. It is toxic and divisive and does not deserve anyone's support.
