Honesty always. Lies DO NOT spare us pain. It just delays it and makes it worse! The truth ALWAYS comes out and then you’re going to feel the pain of the hurtful truth AND the pain of being lied to.
There’s no such thing as a “white lie” or a “kind lie”. The only person being spared is the liar. Liars just don’t want to experience the fallout of the truth. Lying is selfish and wrong every single time. No exceptions.

I'd rather be honest if it would help them in some way, otherwise, might as well lie if the truth wouldn't do anything good. Though I do sometimes slip and tell people unhelpful and hurtful honest things, I'd try to avoid it.
