Is it bad to be jealous of my partner?

My partner is starting a new job and is more successful than me, is it bad that I’m jealous?

In small amounts, jealousy can be good, particularly if it motivates you to want and do more for yourself.

If you want less for your partner to feel better about yourself, it can be unhealthy.

Jealousy can bleed into relationships over small things like not being excited or for them during their sucesss or being less supportive when they struggle. You might say things like, it's hard it's no big deal if you fail, instead of something supportive like 'I believe in you to figure it out because you're smart and capable.'

Try starting over tomorrow. See if you can turn the jealousy into pride for your partner :-). Hopefully they are doing their part and not making you feel bad about their promotion. It’s my hope that you both are proud of yourselves and work to help each other achieve goals

When my girlfriend got a book deal with a big publisher, my first feeling was pride and happiness that her dreams were coming true. Not envy.
I doubt you're not proud of her and happy for her, but if your first feeling is a pit in your gut, you're obviously not doing enough with your own life (at least from your perspective). I don't think it has anything to do with her

Maybe find other ways to be useful in the relationship. doesn't always have to be with money.

Well maybe you'll feel less jealous if you can bring some other skill to the relationship. Such as learning to fix things around the house. It can be anything really.
